1 Year Adult Beginner Guitar Progress With Online Lessons

I am a 49 year old blind man. I started with a guitar as an alternative to smoking. Paragraph I phoned your site on YouTube and used some of your easy to learn four and five chord songs. I sometimes have difficulty when the finger positioning for cards isn’t vocalised in a video.

I started playing 3 months ago as a side effect of lockdown.Aged 50, set an aim to play 10 mins every day, but end up around 45 mins. Following you on Youtube, and nailed my first Barre Chord TODAY, super happy. 🎸🎸

At the start of lockdown I found my grandmothers old nylon acoustic that I was given when she passed. I took it out and it tuned up and I found your beginner 10 day class. I got hooked. Had always wanted to learn. I explored Youtube and found creators who’s teaching was best for me. From theory to song tutorials to gear advice. And now almost a year later approaching age 53, I love it. Honestly, skill wise I am not where I want to be. But I love the process and as long as I can connect a few notes and chords to make it sound like a song. That makes me happy.

I may not be “ready for prime time” or even in my living room in front of friends and family, but I am pushing forward.

Of note my now 15 yo daughter picked it up and has already far surpassed her dad in skill. She is loving it as well.

I have since (and early on) progressed to a steel string acoustic.

I picked up the guitar 4 years ago and I’m 49. Got into you tube and stumbled across Andy....what a find!! Started with Buffalo Springfield and just kept going. Got Andy’s beginner and intermediate course.I’m not that confident playing in front of people but was asked to play at my sister in laws wedding 2years ago and I did it.I push my limits and played Blackbird in front of 100 thing I’ve done!

Can’t thank you enough dear Andy! After losing my mum in feb 2020 and my dad only three weeks later, and during the pandemic, I felt the need to add a positive experience to myself, my family and to my 3 kids. As a singer since many years, I started your guitar courses to accompany my singing and make it more personal. Your genuinly pleasant energy and clear simple lessons are great and my 1st played song 3 little birds was a huge relief:) Since then, I’m practicing on daily basis and just formed my new Hat&Hoodie band with a second guitarist! Found your lessons first in March 2020. I bought a used guitar for $60 & practiced everyday! I love classical music, so now I’m saving up for a classical guitar!
I learned to play for just enjoyment & bc my brother played and I admired him so much for it!
Sadly, due to bi-polar depression, we lost him in August 2020.
We got to play together in July 2020 & had lots of fun singing & playing together!
Playing guitar has been its own amazing form of therapy for me! I bought a lot of Andy music & now so just bought some music from Per-Olov Kindgren! My new classical guitar is closer with my savings!

I love watching videos like this and other 1 year progress videos because I NEED every bit of motivation and encouragement I can get! I’m 50 and have been playing for almost 8 weeks now. I have a lot of days when I can’t even imagine getting better but a few others where I do something that surprises me or sounds good. I know that I just have to stick with it and keep practicing. I’ve also started a progress video and hope that it’s something worth watching that I can be proud of a year from now! Thanks for the beginner lessons Andy!
