I'm Italian, and it kinda confuses me that you had such a fun time and that the locals didn't bother you.
Many people, especially around Milan and Rome are racist. Ppl from Milan are more racist towards ethnicities and people from Southern Italy.
Either way, I'm glad you had fun and enjoyed our cuisine.
