'UK suspension of arms sales to Israel would grind war on Gaza to a halt'

“If the UK government were to decide not to allow those to go, then the Israeli war on the Palestinians would grind to a halt.”

Anna Stavrianakis, an International Relations Professor at Sussex University, said during an episode of BBC Newsnight on Thursday that the UK supplies 15 percent of components for every Israeli F-35 fighter jet, and the result of the UK halting those supplies would be a cessation of Israel’s war on the Palestinians.

Her comments come amid growing calls for the UK to cease arms sales and supplies to Israel after seven aid workers in Gaza were killed by multiple Israeli air strikes earlier this week. Three of the aid workers were British nationals.

Economically, the UK is a banana republic. Without the house of cards financial sector and mass arms production, the country is as economically powerful as Bulgaria and Lithuania. This is the real reason the arms sales won’t stop.
