Basically what we're doing here is 124 x (10 + 1) = 1240 + 124. Final answer: 1364

Why are you pulling down the left most number first. Just start from the right, much easier and cleaner.

Example; 1497*11

First take the right most number and jot it down

More simpler trick fof 23 x 11 is
23×10 + 23×1
= 230 + 23
= 253

For 124×11,

i) (124×10) + (124×1)
=1240+124
=1364

ii) First write 1 as it is, add 1 and 2, then add 2 and 4. Finally write the last digit 4 as it is.
The answer is 1364 in both cases.
