This might be the greatest opening and theme song in film history. I think the really real story was about British officers who were in the camp. The producers realized that an American audience would rather see a few American heroes in major roles in the story so they created the stories around McQueen and Garner to appeal to the American audience. Still how could have Danny dug so many tunnels before this one and his agriphobia didn't get to him.??

A great movie and must have watched it hundreds of times but if want to read a great story get hold of the book detailing how they tracked down and brought to justice those that killed the '50' . The book is called: "Human Game: Hunting the Great Escape Murderers" by Simon Read is published by Constable & Robinson.
