Richard playing the piano made me cry. I kept wanting Karens beautiful voice to start singing. Shes always been my favorite singer. There will never be another Karen. 😥

This is fabulous, petula and richard, s late sister karen were best ftiends! It's nice they were able to have a duet together! In my opinion, richard and karen (the carpenters), were the greatest sibling duo to ever come down the pike in the music industry! I call them the "dynamic duo" richards piano, arranging skills and karen, s silky, alto voice make them the perfect musical partners!

The video was recorded from Petula's concert performances in Chrysler Hall in Norfolk, Virginia, on May 20-21, 2001, as part of the Virginia Arts Festival. I was in attendance at the performance on Sunday evening, May 20, having driven down with my mother for the concert. We stayed afterward and waited by the stage door with other fans for a chance to meet Petula, Richard, and Lou Rawls. Petula emerged soon after the concert to greet fans but couldn't tarry long, as there was a reception she had to attend inside with her guests. Most of the waiting crowd dispersed, but I noticed there were some who were lingering by the door, waiting for a second chance to spend a bit more time with the artists. Most appeared to be there for Richard. I was there for both Petula and Richard and delighted at the chance to see them both. We must have waited an hour or so before the door opened and out walked Petula, Richard, and Lou. All three were gracious with their time, even though it was getting late, signing autographs and posing with fans for photos. Richard was mobbed, with fans chatting him up about his music and career. It was a great night, and I found myself speechless when meeting Petula Clark and Richard Carpenter, like a star-struck kid.

I would like to say thank you to Petula for singing the song Karen loved. Karen's brother Richard must have been so happy.

I saw Lou Rawls perform in Vacaville CA of all places, he apologized for rushing his performance because he thought he had the flu, but he sang all of his hits because he didn't want to disappoint his fans. He was terminally ill and passed away within months. As for Petula Clark, she performed in San Francisco for almost two hours and then after a short break, visited and signed autographs until everyone who waited was greeted. A very classy entertainer and wonderful to her fans.

February 6th, 1983, Petula was giving a 40th anniversary concert at Royal Albert Hall.
As part of her encore she made a touching For All We Know tribute to Karen.

Wonderful tribute from one super star to another super star. Pet Clark sings Karen’s songs so well, and I only wish they could have done the songs as duet together. Sadly, with Karen dying so young, it wasn’t to be. As for brother Richard? What can I say, such a delightful and gracious man with so much talent himself. His sheer musicailty is breathtaking. With Richard’s beautiful piano playing and song writing skills he was a critical part of the success of The Carpenters. RIP Karen. ❤

Often when I am left alone and when I get sad, Caren Carpenters calls me in her beautiful velvet voice. Even though I grew up on the Beatles, I'm always happy to listen to The Carpenters. I have recorded the songs I like the most on a CD and I always have it at hand.

50 years ago, I listened to the melody of "Yesterday Once More" from the radio when I was a little Taiwanese kid. It's great to know that Richard is still active on the stage. Miss Karen and her voice so much.
