Do you ever do a tree (like in your home) with “keepsake” ornaments that have been handmade/collected over the years? These department store type trees are beautiful, but it would be interesting to see how you would choose to decorate a tree that would be more common.

k, i've gotten a lot of great info on decorating my tree from christopher heideman & others, but i can only take in so much each year, i am now needing to know the principles for placement of everything. the tip about gluing the top on the large ornaments, i just had that happen, & i have cats, so i had really clean it up good. it was a bummer because it was part of a set i got down at the breakers in newport rhode island gift shop. how i love christmas decorations. i got the 3 sets of cluster lights for my huge trees, real ones, i have been using pics for a few years, & practicing with ribbons. i love the diamond shape method, but i need to know how to place my pics. i learned the 'buy things in threes', so i have all threes of them. how many different types can you use? how do i place them? i usually put them across the tree, by style. in a triangle, is that ok? & i do love the extended beyond the tree look of them. it''s looks smashing. i love the apron idea, i will do that this year. i am 70 years old & was able to get my tree delivered & set up this & last year. i asked them to put my angel up for a few extra bucks. my other problem is getting the ornaments to hang straight down, do i snip the offending branch out of the way? i have a 50 pc biltmore set of ornaments with long ones. they need to look perfect. this is my 2nd year using them. i bought them from balsam hill. i just discovered them last two years. i bought a set of things, skirt, stocking, etc on sale after c'mas 3 years ago, & two rolls of 5" embellished ribbon which i am trying to find ways to use. i have a curved victorian staircase i am dying to decorate, but i don't have the strength & energy to do everything i want to. i'm having my little family here for my last christmas here as i am selling & moving to portugal by next november. i have a very limited budget, so i am going to be low on gifts, as we all will be, so i want my house to look as amazing as i can pull off. the light strings are the most work. i am short with short arms so it's a job. wow, your tree looks beautiful!! thank you for your sharing your creative skills with people like me so we can express our skills & build confidence. thank you & merry christmas!!
