This interview was taped just prior to Rep. Lewis' passing on July 17th, 2020.

As a student, civil rights activist John Lewis led sit-ins to end segregation in Nashville and marched alongside Martin Luther King, Jr. in Selma – where he was brutally beaten while peacefully protesting for his right to vote. Today, the 17-term congressman from Georgia is known as the “conscience of Congress." Filmmaker Dawn Porter joins the show to discuss her portrait of his amazing life.

A link to the documentary would be nice or when it will be out there. I seemed to have missed if it was mentioned.

As a child who saw TV protest marches as a child and had parents explain that the reason the marches were occurring was black people were (and still are) being mistreated because of their skin color, I was (and remain) saddened and angry. Of course, I cannot remember the leaders' faces but, I remember bits of speeches. Equal rights for everyone, NOW. 🗽
