I not only really like Shawn's regrind on this Endura, I love the look of that dark patina on the Hap40 edge with the orange/black Zome FRM handles!!! Also as far as I can tell from the video the action of this Endura looks amazing, smooth as glass!!! This will be my second Big Brown Bear customized knife(Endura), his work is truly amazing!!! I can't wait to finally get this Big Brown Bear Endura in hand!!!

Nicely done ✅👍
I bet it would be hard to do a regrind on a harbor freight 1*30... It's all I have to fast..

Endura 4 hap40 glow in the dark scapel edition. I'm still fond of my blue vg10 endura but this is pimped to perfection.

Is there still a secondary bevel or is it a full flat scandi now? Does a blade lose width when reground?

Are you by any chance still ding regrinds? If so I have a 3" XM I'd like you to work on. Ty

I don't know why but the silence and the way the video is shot and edited gave me a weird horror movie vibe lol.

hap40/rex45 really intrigues me. Somehow I missed the first round of sprints and all the attendant hype so now I'm playing catchup. I apologize for the wordy question that's about to follow since this isn't even a steel talk video:

These are basically in the M3 family as far as I can tell. A while back there must of been a supply of BU's superclean(?) variant of M3:2 in Eastern Europe because some really value priced fixed blades in this steel started popping up on my radar. have one Russian hunting knife at least purporting to be in this steel(I was barely able to communicate with the maker enough to work out the whole payment and shipping thing) and it's a great performer at its price. On paper this steel should be inferior to m4 but my experience with it has impressed me enough that I'm quite interested about it and kind of disappointed it's either not available or too expensive when m4 is better on paper and easily obtained.

After you made the steel Geek Out on rex45 I realized that hap40/rex45 are high cobalt variants of m3:2(I think). I'm no steel savant so what is going on with the cobalt? You're getting harden-ability but is that it. Why do people report such fine/polished edge formation with this? Cobalt effects the properties of the other elements so do you give up anything or have any downsides with it? Or is it just something that has no downsides but significantly increases the overall cost of the steel? I'm just wondering why hap40/rex45 seemed to float to the top while the rest of its close relatives just kind of lost out to m4. Is it marketing or did rex45/hap40 just hit the sweet spot for use in cutlery? either way I have a rex45 PM2 coming and am eyeing some of Spyderco's many hap40 offerings specifically to have you regrind it. I was just wondering if you have any comparative experience with this steel's close relatives.

Sorry for the rambling "question". The satin finish looks great btw.

I'd love to have something like this done to my 52100 manix 2. Thin out the blade and grind the coating off the flat ground part, leaving the dlc on the back, unground section and pivot then patina the blade. It would slice like a beast and I assume the 52100 could handle a thin grind well.

Sick!! I love the way that came out! I can’t wait to etch my delica 4 v-toku2. Are you dipping the whole blade tang and all, and masking with nail polish? If you don’t mind telling me... thanks for showing us this!
