🕯️ Superstition. War. A spirit that sent a woman to her death. This episode delves into the tragic case of Elizabeth Clarke, the first victim of Matthew Hopkins, the so-called Witchfinder General. In a world fuelled by paranoia, Vinegar Tom became more than a name—it became a death sentence.

Imagine the horror that would overcome witchhunters if they learned about Pokemon.

The cleverly timed, "Let's talk about the asshole..." gag nailed it! And such a beautiful creature. I'm gonna have to keep an eye on THIS channel!

The familiars names make me want to cry, because they seem like such silly old names, like something my late italian appalachian Nunna would name a possum or squirrel that she was feeding.

I keep smiling at the name... I can imagine Matthew Hopkins having a high-level marketing meeting for identifying demons and familiars... 'Chutney William'..? 'Marzipan Hamish'..? A-ha, I have it.. - 'Vinegar Tom'!!!

It's such a highlight when your videos come out. Vinegar Tom looks like a good boy, and maybe you're right- maybe he was the bringer of justice for those who died without.

did not expect such a grim story when i clicked the video, honestly it made me happy to see you went through historical records just to tell the story of these poor folk regarded as witches

Another absolutely beautifully done sculpture! And I loved the history lesson, you have such a lovely way of telling the story, the way your voice held so much compassion for Elizabeth and so much vitriol for Hopkins. I fully agree he was a professional bellend, good title for him! And yes, we don't know much about Elizabeth, but I feel that by telling her story you've given her spirit a nice little boost. Now others know about her and will carry her memory with them.

Proof, as if proof were needed, that a confession under duress is as reliable as a cheesecloth umbrella

The sensitivity you have to the victims of the witch hunters is a lovely contrast to the official records of what happened. Vinegar Tom himself is a gorgeous piece of work.

Your Vinegar Tom is a beautiful creature, I'm sure Elizabeth would be chuffed! I love your voiceover as well, your delivery and cadence is super expressive and really fun to listen to. Looking forward to what you create next!!

This might be the first miniature-sculpting video I've seen that I would describe as "important."

I love the bit about the black rabbit that slips down the witchhunters' throats, to fill their guts with toads. THAT, I think, was a real comment Elizabeth made. A bit of spite thrown in the faces of the horrible men that tormented her, an old, disabled woman. Just like her mother and grandmother had been tormented all those years ago. She probably knew they'd use her "confession" against her. After three continuous days of torment, she likely didn't care. So the old lady had a bit of nasty fun, at their expense.

I hope wherever she is, Elizabeth is getting a good chuckle out of this statue. That the description she likely made up on the spot is looked upon more fondly than the bastards who murdered her, and murdered her friends, and tarnished her name.

oh he is such a Little Guy! and the twist you got in the spine and hips that showed in the final shots was lovely. Your attention to detail and storytelling alike are wonderful!

I adore EVERYTHING about this video. The sculpture is so incredibly well done, the actual heartbreaking story behind tom is so well told, and the editing is on point. The video is literally liquid gold, please keep sculpting and making videos, you have a genuine talent.

I just don't understand how so many people can believe such insanity. I wonder what they got out of it. It hurts my brain so much.

It's shocking how young Mathew Hopkins was

The only way Vinegar Tom could be any _less_ fearsome, is if he had the head of a Highland Coo 😍
