By trying to connect the age of 52 and grumpy, I reckon the article Ellen looked at was about middle age which is, by Wikipedia's standard, "the period of age beyond young adulthood but before the onset of old age." And yup my parents have been grumpier and grumpier year by year as they're crossing into that age period.
