1:17 - The explanation is good but reversed for this system. In case anyone's curious, when the valve is open (Sport mode) the exhaust gases flow through both the reduced diameter muffler, as well as the 3" straight-piped side. When in Tour mode, the valve is closed and diverts all gases to the reduced/muffler side below 3500 RPM. Above 3500 RPM, the flow of gases automatically cause the valve to open and allow them to flow through both sides. This is straight from Mitsubishi's service material on the active exhaust system for the VR4.

the only thing that stopped me from buying a 3000GT is that it has a transverse mounted engine.
but it's a great car.

Personally, I would have checked the rear spoiler worked before putting everything back together. If it didn't work, he has to remove that inner panel yet again and all the screws, nuts and/or bolts.

at 1:16 he said the opposite of what is actually happen. when the car is in sport mode it goes only through the straigt pipe

Luckily most of the electrical and mechanical/hydraulic problems are caused by a small leak or bad wiring connection. Just goes to show that it doesn't take much to fix the problem.

eh, these kind of 'problems' are way to easy. More difficult would be electrical gremlins (so intermittent failures) and worn mechanical parts or rusted through. This car was/is in almost mint condition.
