Just tried this for the first time on my bass... definitely not a song for someone who's only been playing a month. BUT this song is why is I wanted to start in the first place, I WILL get better!

Very helpful thanks. If you don't want to tune all your strings down just do the E string to Eb, then play the power chord bit as 6-8-8 instead of 7-9-9.

For new players :
You got it made !!
I’m thankful for these bass vids .
Saves me a lot of trouble.
Cause back in the 80’s when I first started to play, it was either go buy a song book with bass tabs, OR - play the song over and over and over again on a cassette tape :
Pause !
Stop !
Rewind !!
And once I thought I had it figured out, haha, I’d show up to rehearsals and 9 times out of 10, I was always like a half or whole step out of tune .
Does anybody out there remember those days ??
Haha
I’m recently back in a new band and most of our set list are modern .
( 2000’s to 2010’s ).
No more trying to find the song book at a local music store .
Although ……
I still have Zeppelin Complete .
I’ve had since 1980 ????
Around there .
That was the best book I ever owned .
It’s faded a bit but still comes in handy if going to play some Zep .
Nice to go old school every now and then .
Ok .
Happy playing everyone 🙏

Such a simple riff but definitely one of the most badass in music (not just grunge) history.

The song that made me want to play bass. Heard it when it was brand new and on the radio. I was at the time saving up for a guitar. But not even half way through hearing this song on the radio I decided to learn bass and buy a bass instead. Was pretty easy song to learn except the timing. Thats most of Alice In Chains songs anyway. I learned their whole catalog. Every time they released a new album or EP id start learning the songs on my days off and in the evenings. Great song by a great band. New players when you are at the stage where you want to learn whole songs but their album named Dirt. Start learning the songs. Id say start with the first song (Them Bones) and just work your way down to each dong. By the time you get to the last song (whifh is this song Would?) You will be so confident that you will want to learn all of your favorite songs.

I had to learn this song for the band practice this afternoon. Your cover helped immensely. Thanks.

Learning this for a Wedding gig. I could do it all myself by ear like in the 80's but You tube makes me LAZY!!! LOL Great playing by the way. Very professional.

All of the memes of non-bassists strumming when they pick one up, and this song has a sick power chord strum, love it!

Played this song in a popular cover band for many years, when I started the Bass groove the crowd always loved it. It is a fun song to play, not that difficult, just stay in the groove.
