20 Reality TV Shows From The 2000's To Watch During The Quarantine

Let's Take A Drive Down Memory Lane With Some Of Your Favorite Nostalgic Shows From The 2000's

The early 2000’s brought us some of the best and worst of Reality Television. It was the beginning of a new wave of reality shows and it had us all so intrigued. There were so many amazing shows that were created at this time. Shows like Newlyweds, where we got to see celebrity pop stars Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson endure the ups and downs of married life. Shows like Laguna Beach and The Hills were all the craze on MTV back in the day. The 2000’s reality tv genre had us watching shows like The Osbournes and their wonderfully quirky family. Then there were shows like The Simple Life, My Super Sweet Sixteen and even Pretty Wild that made us hate rich, self absorbed, snobby people and yet we kept watching. But that was balanced out with transformational reality shows like The Biggest Loser, Queer Eye, and yes even Pimp My Ride. Who could forget favourites like Punk’d starring Ashton Kutcher. And Modelling and Fashion reality shows like Project Runway and America’s Next Top Model. There are even shows that have continued their success and are still running today. Like The Bachelor and the Bachelorette. You can never get enough of shows about people trying to find love. Except if it's MTV’s Next. Probably one of the most terrible dating shows out there. It was so bad but we watched anyway. Then there were the questionable and controversial reality shows like Joe Millionaire and The Swan. They didn’t last long but viewers tuned in every week to see what would happen.

Reality tv from the 2000’s may have had its fair share of bad television but it also created a lot of very entertaining shows. Reality TV and what it is today would not be where it is without the early days of reality television. What are some of your favourites? The Simple Life didn't really start things, it was MTV's The Real World that really RE-kick-started the genre that was actually invented in the 1970's. But what TSL did, was bring a whole new level of degeneracy to the genre, that the Kartrashians would later take to the depths of the self-absorption toilet. BUT, what's funny is that Paris and Nicole were "acting" most of the time. Paris Hilton is far brighter in reality-pun than she portrayed herself on the show.

I watched some of it because it was obnoxiously stupid, and they were kinda attractive and actually funny, but then saw an interview with Paris about a year after the show ended and she was ten times more intellectually impressive in a serious interview as compared to the show.

Not that that's saying much...but still... ;p
