Check out Emergence Theory and The Self-Simulation Hypothesis. It basically says reality is made of information (thought), and the substrate or underlying level of this thought is panconsciousness that emerges from itself as the creator or simulator of itself. It allows for a consciousness to exist across time without dependence on a body, and the possibility of communicating with higher forms of consciousness including one's future self. I find it fascinating that scientists are studying these concepts.
