I'll never get over that first time you see Anima summoned and he gets ripped out of the ground with a hook grabbing onto his jaw. Was even more brutal when you realise he's still sealed even though he's been summoned. Outside of his Limit Break he just attacks with the only eye that isn't restrained

Oh, Doomtrain. How you confounded me 25 years ago. I eventually figured out, but mostly by accident.

Eden from FF8 was tough too. Not because of the Ultima Weapon battle necessarily but everything else you have to do just to get to that battle.

My mom got doom train long ago before using the internet for guides... Never knew how much of a hassle it was to get

I've been a player of Final Fantasy since the NES days. So far, I'd say THE HARDEST summon to obtain would be the Cockatrice summon during Rydia's chapter of Final Fantasy 4: The After Years. Just like in the original Final Fantasy 4, and in Interlude, it is still randomly dropped by Cockatrice and other similar bird-type enemies. It is even possible for other characters to obtain Rydia's four random-drop summons within their own individual chapters to give to her at the final chapter when all parties come together. However, in Rydia's own chapter, for story purposes she is not able to summon ANYTHING unless or until a Goblin, Cockatrice, Bomb and/or Mindflayer drop their summoning items. Goblin is fairly easy, as it often appears in the Cave of the Eidolons. The Mindflayer is in a cave near Agart, and the Bomb is in the Challenge Dungeon once the chapter is completed. As for the Cockatrice, it resides on two floors of the Sylph Cave... but in the Playstation Portable version of The After Years, the encounter rate is TERRIBLE, and that's on top of a low drop rate for the item itself! In my last play through, it took a few months, then a break of a few months for giving up to save my sanity, and then a few more months. But, I did eventually get it. I don't think I'll be restarting a whole new game from scratch again any time soon.

The stretched final fantasy tactics footage was an eyesore. It’s crazy how many people play 4:3 games stretched out and have no idea it looks wrong.

In FFX the Magus Sisters are more difficult to obtain than Anima, because having Anima is a requirement for obtaining the Magus Sisters, plus you must also obtain the Flower Scepter and Blossom Crown, which means you have to capture one of each enemy on Mt. Gagazet.

The only reason I was able to get Alexander in Final Fantasy 7 in my first playthrough was because a friend of mine showed me how to do it. He figured that whole thing out on his own too! 😅

You can also get Marlboro tentacles from Card Modding which is fairly simple as Marlboro cards are pretty common.

Recently tried to get Fenrir in XI and i can say, yes it was a whole ass trial; i had to swap to Windurst and do the msq to get to the quest that gives you the item to bypass the Three Mage Gate on top of all the other things; it was quite an adventure.

I could never find Alexander in 7. And my guidebook for 8 said I needed 666 of the 3 items needed for doom train. And let's NOT talk about the absolute pain it was getting Knights of the Round in 7.

I never did get fenrir in ff11. I had the rest of the summons. Rumor was that he would destroy a paladin tank. And the only way to actually tank him, was to have 2 ninjas using ustsusemi, to control aggro and survive. I don't know how true that was, as I never actually faced him. And this was before the level cap was above 75. I heard the game got a lot easier after I left.

I found almost any of the summons in FF12 to be a real ball ache to obtain compared to most of the other games.

The power of Doomtrain was that it could never miss unless the enemy had total immunity to that status. For example, casting Meltdown alone on Omega Weapon has like a 5% chance to stick the Vit0 status effect, while Doomtrain applies Vit0 100% of the time.

I hate progressing without unlocking stuff and exploring as much as possible, Alexander was one I got first play through.

Anima, KOTR and the others usually took me a 2nd or 3rd okay through to find out as I detest using guides.
