There is a way to change the entire UI. CTR+F12 to open the console. Go to Debug database view. Search for AUI. Check AE.EnableV7DVAUISkins. Restart After Effects. Then go to Edtis -> Preferences -> Appeareance. You will find the Color theme option. Enjoy

BEST TIP OF 2023! And I did it to Premiere Too! It's way easier to tell which window is active. And a little cooler too! Now if only they'd let you colour code the bins.... 🤔

I can only see a list of 8 colors. How can I access the color picker to choose any color?

Yes, you can do this in Premiere too.

But still the Window... window controls (File, Edit, etc.) is in light mode, even though system settings should have everything to dark. All other CC apps are in dark mode, not sure why After Effects is different.
