it only works though if u uploaded via your phone. You can not change the thumbnail from any short which was originally uploaded from a PC, as no "edit" tab will appear. If anyone knows differently, please tell me how.

You can also add a completely custom thumbnail, however YT have now taken away the option to edit out that thumbnail frame.

I don't have this option. Tried both the YouTube mobile app and the Studio app. Does the length of the video matter? Mine is 1 minute long...

I've clicked on the 3 dots for my short, but it takes long to load and after it's done loading, it doesn't show any other part of the frames of the video. What would cause this? Some videos load fine but others it will only show the first frame of the short.

I figured it out. You have to click on the EDIT menu item, NOT the EDIT IN STUDIO and then I was able to make it work on a vid I made on my pc.
