I have a tip to help stop your knives blunting. Don't use the sharp edge to scrape prepped veg into the pan, use the other edge. Great video and hacks, thank you.

Another tip for how to make it easier to juice lemons and limes it to simply just put it on your countertop and roll them with your hand while putting on some pressure. This make the little pulp sections break so when you cut it open it'll be super easy to press out the juice.

Thank you so, so much for this. I've always hated cooking and I never learned how. It is like Greek to me and when people say "it's easy! Just sautee your onion and garlic in with...etc" my brain turns off because I don't even know how to chop or prepare the basics. I need things broken down into basic steps so that I can learn, and I have had trouble getting others to understand that because cooking comes so naturally to them. I am a science person so the exact measurements of baking have always been easier for me. I see cooking as more of an art. Anyway, all that to say, I'm late to the cooking world here in my 30's, but I need to learn because I'm transitioning from vegetarian to vegan. This video was perfect!! Seriously, the first time anyone has broken it down so that I can really grasp some basics of cooking. Would love more videos like these.

Love the herbs in water tip. I've always heard of doing it with oil, but never thought to do it with water. This will save so many fresh herbs (and money!) from the compost bin... Thank you for the inspiration!!!

Loved the pasta advice! As an italian it's lovely to see my favourite dish be cooked as we do it, amazing! And don't forget to add a little bit of salt to the water as soon as it boils, before putting the pasta in.
I've always loved cooking, I'll certainly use these advise a lot, they're very useful.
Love all your videos, thanks for what you do!

Thank you so much for making this! As you said at the beginning, not everyone gets the privilege of learning cooking from their parents. As a child, I was prohibited from being in the kitchen while cooking was happening and was fed the same 5 or so plates because my mom really hated cooking. I grew up without knowing what food should taste like, how it looks uncooked, how to prepare or cook anything. I remember the first time I cooked for myself, I had to look up everything. How to slice an apple, how to boil water, how to use a rice cooker, steam vegetables and so on.
Being a vegan has made me love food, and although it has been an extremely challenging journey, your videos and other vegans on YouTube has made the kitchen a better place to be. So thank you again!

Chinese people don't even peel the ginger, we just always put it in the dish as it is with the skin 😂

i loved it! I'm a horrible cook and this helped me a lot! but one thing that I did learn is that if you make pasta and save a little from the 'pastawater' and put it nto your pasta sauce it tastes really good

I loved this! Please do more. Also, would love for you to do one on basics - how to chop veggies (broccoli, chilis, garlic, etc., ) how you prep ingredients from start to finish (do you do as you go, or get everything chopped and prepared before you start?), how you store your greens so they last, kind of cookware, kettle, and knives you use). This is the best channel!
