I am glad the general consensus is that these guys are in the wrong. The only outcome of this, regardless of the point, is less access to information to the masses. This is honestly the most heinous thing you can do without directly committing violence or physical harm.

Their point or message is completely lost by the damage they are causing to (like what tscoding said) humanity in general

Hey maybe this is actually GOOD publicity for the Internet Archives as more people will be made aware of its value, importance, and even existence. But I would imagine that a project like this would have PLENTY of redundancy in the form of storage farms mirroring storage farms, and these would just be cold storage, not accessible to the outside world. And all the online accessible stuff are just pages served up from virtualized servers where its all cached data, if it gets vandalized or defaced, there are back ups on top of back ups, or something like that, if someone more knowledgeable can correct me

i heavily doubt that the political thing is their true intention if you know what you are doing is seen by every side as immoral why would you still do it and advertise your cause? you can even say that its more likely that they did it as a way to put more hate on the movement that they are supposedly supporting
