Hi Dr Shouhed, our daughter was just diagnosed with SMA. She is 11 and has major motility issues and is Autistic and has limited verbal skills. She is always telling us “I hurt”. Is there anything for pain you would recommend she is currently on gabapentin. Would you recommend surgery on a child. We are in Michigan at Helen Devos children’s hospital. Do you know anyone on the East Coast that does surgeries regularly on children. Thank you.

What do you recommend for a patient that has managed to gain weight but often still suffers bouts of abdominal pain, nausea and fainting episodes that last days. First diagnoses SMA then later on gastroperesies.
Doctors don’t advise on management of these symptoms.
