What is SMA? | August is SMA Awareness Month

August is Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Awareness Month, and we have a whole series planned for y’all! We will be posting videos throughout August covering different SMA topics. Here’s what we’ll be sharing:
1. What is SMA? A general overview plus some specifics on Randi-Lynn’s SMA.
2. What causes SMA? Come get bio-nerdy with us! We’ll go over the details that make SMA what it is.
3. What are the treatments for SMA? We’ll go over the options that are currently available as well as those on the horizon.
4. And lastly, a story time. We’ll tell you about Randi-Lynn’s treatment journey.

We are cousins who love to travel, but the world is not always as welcoming to varied abilities as it should be. Here we will be sharing with you our adventures and some of the ways we have learned to make the not-so-accessible accessible. It’s not always easy but where there’s a will there is (usually) a way!

This was such a great video I learned so much. I met someone around my city who has SMA and we've become friends so being able to learn even alittle bit about it... I dont know the rest of my sentences. Basically I like being able to learn about a disability and not feel like a nuisance asking like a million questions to one person. Also thank you for having subtitles in the video that helped so much. I will here someone talk and in my brain it sometimes gets gumbled so the subtitles helped me keep up.
