3DS Capture Setup Tutorial

Hey folks, I have discovered a new setup for my 3DS capture card and wanted to show you all that I found out it is better to capture the video and audio direct from the source, so here is my method.

Here is what a noise filter looks like, you will need it to eliminate extra white noise that may occur.

Now there are lots of other ways to capture 3DS gameplay, here are some links.

Loopy's capture boards are simply the best. I was one of the first few people to buy them before he made the site go viral.
Never had an issue with his build and it comes with a reliable recorder too. If he worked on New3DS I'd pay again for it the software is just really realible

I subscribed because of the wallpaper on your pc

That sounds like a great idea, you will most likely need a cord that will go from a 3.5 mm to a 2.5 mm for an older phone, however most newer smartphones should be able to work with a regular 3.5 mm cord

Well thank you for the feedback, I will attempt to have more energy in future videos.

I'm pretty sure that you can, and there is two ways to go about it, the first way is to plug in the game audio into one mic input and a headset or mic into another mic input (my comp has two mic inputs one in front and the other in back) make sure that your screen capture software is recording your game audio and that your voice audio program like Audacity is capturing from your headset or mic. I recommend this way but if you only have one mic input to work tell me

Now I understand what you're asking okay to get the game sound that is done with the screen capture program that you're using, go to the audio or sound capture section in settings and tell it to record audio from the mic input (the same one you have plugged your 3DS sound into) if for some reason that doesn't work then use system sound instead of mic, (be sure to have listen to mic on in you sound settings of your operator system) this is all assuming you are using a pc and not a mac

if your laptop only has one 3.5mm jack on it then all you have is a headphone output, if that's the case then you`ll have to get a usb headset like the one I used in the video, I also showed in the video how to set your computer to listen to whatever you have plugged in to your mic, my operator system is windows 7 if your operator system is different then you`ll have to look it up yourself so watch the video and you might get some ideas

To whom ever it was that asked "did you get that USB cord when you bought your capture card?" the answer is yes, I also got the noise filter as well at no extra cost, I must apologize because I accidentally deleted your comment and am now cursing YouTube for placing the delete button underneath the see all comments button it's a shame that whoever commented will not be notified that I answered his question

While watching your video I scrolled down to read some comments then all of a sudden I heard glass shattering. I quickly scrolled up thinking to myself wth did his computer collapse lol

however if you are using a mac it is a little tricky, mostly because the 3DS capture software you download from the site only works for pc, if you're able to get past this somehow I'd love to know, let me know if the previous reply helped you or not

Oh my God! That's why... So I need to modify my 3DS, i thought it was with some kind of extra cable. Anyway, I noticed you were really nervious :P i recomend you to make some sort of dialogue, you know, in paper. So when you start recording, yo can remember what you were going to say. You don't have to read it out loud but, just watch it from time to time. With time, you won't need it and it will be easy for you to speak in front of a camera. Good video though! :D

That one I'm not sure what to do, since once you plug in an mic input it bypasses the built in mic, you can try setting voice recording program to record from built in mic and game audio with the mic input, find out if your comp can do that, you'll have to try a Google search to see if that's possible otherwise I guess you could get a video camera with a good mic, set that up and capture yourself, then convert that video into and mp3 and then you'll just have the audio

Is there a microphone input on your laptop? There must be something that is different from what I'm doing in the video because this works for me, and you not having a mic input on your laptop and that you're putting the line in from the DS to the headphone input on your laptop, sadly they look the same however are not the same, generally they are color coded, green is headphone and pink is mic in (some laptops don't have a mic in).

I use Fraps to record the game play, and it captures the video and audio with the setup I described in my previous comment, I may have an idea to work around the issue of some laptops only having a headphone jack and that's to use a usb adapter meant for a headset, I hope this helped give me a shout or a PM if it didn't

hey any idea if your computer has only one input for audio if you plug it in to get the sound to come over to the computer. i'm using a surface pro 2 and that is the only audio jack but picks up microphones as well if it's the same plug like most headsets these days

I'm thinking about trying this at some point, but I'm a novice when it comes to video editing. How straight forward is it to sync commentary to your game play footage and would doing live commentary make a difference as well as recording both on the same computer.

I use a 3.5 mm headphone extension cord, plug it into the 3DS headphone output, then I plug the other end into the mic input on my PC, that is in the video I think, sadly some laptops don't have a mic input and I don't know of a solution to work around this

Do you have any advice for hooking up wireless headphone/mic set (afterglow). Using a pc not a mac to record. Can hear and record audio from 3ds but mic doesn't record. Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated! Thanks!
