4J put so much more care into the console ports than microsoft, it really added to the magic of the experience

The one feature I love that no one talks about is 'Exit without Saving'.

I remember being absolutely flabbergasted by Stampy's house appearing in one of the tutorial worlds

the graphics were so bright and vibrant, the UI was sleek, the sound effects were satisfying, everything about it was absolute perfection

Legacy console edition actually felt like a proper almost 1:1 console port of Java minecraft with extra bells and whistles, while Bedrock feels like a mobile game. Not only does it feel like a mobile game, but it also feels like one of those old videogame ports that were outsourced to an obscure amateur studio and turned out really bad which is funny because 4J, a third party studio, did a way better job than Mojang themselves.

I feel like the limited size of console worlds was *really* what did it. Worlds felt so lived in without putting in days upon days of work since there were only so many places you could build.

Xbox 360 edition was the first version I ever played on. I have so much nostalgia playing with my family. Looking back on it, those really were magical times

I love minecraft legacy edition. The most vivid memories I had of it were the minigames. I used to play "battle" and "glide" a lot, it really brought back some memories. I'm so glad there's still a button to return to the editions on the ps4 version of Minecraft.

For me the quality and minigames of is what set console edition apart. It feels like I'm playing a appreciated and amazingly crafted game, plus minigames too; I use to speedrun glide and have played a fair bit of battle/tumble and they really have such depth/replayability. Compared to much of the minigames available on Bedrock they feel as though they have a soul. Enjoyed the video :]

My favorite featured that was not mentioned is 3D skins. The ones you bought from the packs were more often than not 3D and had parts that would extend off the body or limbs that were smaller or invisible. Java today still lacks this feature.

I honestly liked the limited world sizes... Nowadays playing minecraft can feel super overwhelming because there is so much to explore, but with a limited world size you have to mine, build and craft with what the world generated, if it did not have a desert and you wanted a desert temple, tough luck! It was punishing but also rewarding, specially after making tunnels and homes and other structures all around the map, you truly felt like you conquered the world (being able to see everything on the portable map that showed the entire world helped a lot). Also because of the water on all sides of the map, it felt more like alpha and beta minecraft back in the day, like its an island in the middle of the ocean . Again, nowadays it just feels like you are in the middle of an infinite continent most of the time.

I miss this old minecraft, so simple and unique from the others. I'm glad it was a part of my childhood.
Edit: I agree with everything in this video, good job on it btw

I really loved the waiting rooms for the minigames. Sometimes I would just play in them alone, and try to find all of the secrets And there sure was a ton, because you could find guides online of how to find everything. I remember there being one map where if you did certain things around the map, you would find a HUGE cave underground.

Two more things I would add:

1. The split screen worked really well. If you’ve ever had 8 people playing in the same world on 2 Xboxes, you know the unique experience that can be.

2. Older Minecraft just had more peaceful vibes. There’s another YouTube video about why beta Minecraft is better called “Why Do People Still Play The Beta Version Of Minecraft” much of that applies to 4JCraft as well.

The thing I loved the most about the older console versions was the fact that the game had limitations. In the modern versions there's soooo much content that it kinda feels overwhelming to me. There are so many items and the world's being infinite kinda feels off. I tend to be much more creative when there are some kind of restrictions in place. That's completly gone now in the days of MC Bedrock.

I really miss the ability to play with paid resource packs for free, you just couldn't save. Which I didn't mind.
What I miss the most is the mash-up packs. It was so awesome to explore all these highly detailed worlds with the different soundtracks. The Halo mash-up was how I got into the Halo series.
(btw, Halo Master Chief Collection is one of the best deals in gaming. it's improve so much since 2014. 6 games in one package. seriously, Custom Game Browser, Flood in Halo 3 ODST Firefight, the improved forge with a much larger budget, it's unreal how awesome it is.)

I actually had friends coming over to my house around may 9th and we played console edition and I had a fun time. We used to play console back 5-7 years ago so its nice to relive good memory's.

And as much as I love some of Lena Raine’s music, the old C418 accompanying you in the normal worlds was so nostalgic and comforting

My favorite mash up was the Little Big Planet on the ps4. So nostalgic, detailed, and has an incredible soundtrack
