Dyslexic and I have a degree in English. One could say that I have overcome it.

Oh my gosh so I was diagnosed learning disability 2014 when I got evaluated because I was in foster care and I now it’s 2025 with no updated evaluation. I’ve been in survival mode ever since I’ve been 18 but nobody really paid attention to that diagnostic when I was younger and I’m 24 years old now and I’m struggling every single day and I realize I do have learning disabilities it hasn’t gone away And now I have chronic pain in my body because of the mental toll and I’m in survival mode still because my brain doesn’t help me . I put in effort every single day and it’s just getting worse so now I’m barely trying to acknowledge that this is very real for me and find the right help and had to put in my two weeks at my job because I was the most behind even with extra coaching and training I wasn’t getting it much out of it . I’ve always struggled in school and that hasn’t gone away so I’m so happy that there is people that been trained and validate people that have learning disabilities.

They told me when I was in elementary school that I had a reading disorder. I got lucky and when I was 11 a teach took me and another student aside and individually taught us phonics, using visual tools. Something clicked and suddenly I was reading everything I could get my hands on. But I'm in my mid-50s now, and I've always stumbled and struggled to learn other languages—I seem to have the exact same problem with them that I did with English. I can't permanently connect the letters and syllables, or in the case of Japanese with the symbols. I've started to believe I never outgrew my learning disability, just that the teacher who helped me learn, helped me to compensate for the disability. I really do believe I likely have undiagnosed dyslexia. I have been officially diagnosed with mild Dyscalulia in my 30s though.

No, it's not a fact that you don't outgrow learning disabilities. I figured out how to reverse my learning disability and access my inner-monologue for the first time. The fact is, I've spent 13 years reaching out to specialists and "experts" on how I can make this a permanent fix and nobody cares. Nobody has found what I'm able to do interesting enough to research and I've reached out to some very prominent researchers.
