Thanks to Dr. McDougall I lost 75lbs and have easily kept it off for two years now! He’s right, our stomachs are designed to be filled with healthy starches and plant foods. I truly eat until I’m satisfied and the food is soooo delicious. My taste buds no longer seek after the oily processed foods I used to crave. I never thought I’d have a healthy fit body OR a healthy relationship with food and now I finally do at age 45 ❤ Thank you Dr McDougall!

Dr. Mc. Dougall always said, things that resonated with me. When I look vegan dishes up online or in cookbooks I always replace the oil with low sodium broth or water. Rip. Dr. Mc. Dougall. Sending out love, prayers and comfort to the entire family.

I easily gain weight. I've followed a whole plant-based diet for many years. Last year, I decided to eliminate all oils. I agree with the statement, "You wear the oils or fat you eat, " as it holds true for me. No matter how much whole grain pasta, potatoes, rice, and vegetables I consume, I don't gain weight at all. However, as soon as I eat nuts and chocolate (100% cacao), which have a high fat content, I immediately gain weight.

Arsenic in American White and Brown Rice

1. Arsenic Presence:
- Arsenic is a naturally occurring element found in soil, water, and air.
- It can also be introduced through the use of pesticides and fertilizers.

2. Rice and Arsenic Absorption:
- Rice absorbs more arsenic from the environment compared to other crops due to its water-flooded growing conditions.
- This allows arsenic to be more easily taken up by the rice plants.

3. Arsenic Levels in White Rice:
- A 2012 Consumer Reports study found higher levels of arsenic in white rice grown in the southern United States, particularly Arkansas, Louisiana, Missouri, and Texas.
- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has been monitoring arsenic levels in rice and rice products.
- In 2016, the FDA proposed a limit of 100 parts per billion (ppb) for inorganic arsenic in infant rice cereal.

4. Arsenic Levels in Brown Rice:
- Brown rice tends to have higher arsenic levels compared to white rice.
- Arsenic accumulates in the outer layers of the grain, which are removed to produce white rice.

5. Health Risks and Consumption:
- The health risks associated with arsenic in rice depend on the amount and frequency of rice consumption.
- To minimize potential risks, consumers can vary their grain intake.

6. Cooking Methods to Reduce Arsenic:
- Rinse rice before cooking to help remove some of the arsenic.
- Cook rice with excess water and drain it after cooking to further reduce arsenic levels.

While the presence of arsenic in American white and brown rice is a concern, being aware of the issue and taking steps to minimize exposure can help consumers make informed decisions about their rice consumption.

Our family bought his cookbook in 1982, after he lectured at my high school assembly. Most of the recipes involved brown rice and Braggs Liquid Aminos.

To each his own. After about 4 months, we stopped. We all dragged in energy and felt exhausted all the time.

The one thing that has worked for me is animal proteins and fats with lean veg and less than 30g carbs daily. That is what I did to bring my A1C from 10.5 to 6.5 in 3 months. Absolute truth.

Our earliest art, in caves, depict us hunting 4-legged animals; and indigenous peoples don’t always have access to growing crops. They tend to hunt.

Diabetes is a huge problem in thos country, and every person I know that went off their meds brought blood sugar to normal by abandoning starches and sugars.

Arsenic levels in organic rice...

here are brief snippets of the key findings from each study regarding arsenic levels in organic rice:

S. Praththana et al. (2020):
"The total arsenic concentration in organic brown rice samples ranged from 0.1 to 0.4 mg/kg, with an average of 0.2 mg/kg."
A. A. Meharg et al. (2008):
"The study found that organic rice had significantly lower inorganic arsenic levels compared to conventional rice, with a mean of 0.05 mg/kg in organic rice and 0.11 mg/kg in conventional rice."
G. J. Norton et al. (2020):
"The study reported that the mean total arsenic concentration in organic rice was 0.13 mg/kg, while conventional rice had a mean of 0.14 mg/kg."
G. S. Devi et al. (2018):
"The arsenic content in organic basmati rice samples ranged from 0.03 to 0.08 mg/kg, with an average of 0.05 mg/kg."
S. Y. Chung et al. (2019):
"Organic brown rice samples had an average total arsenic content of 0.14 mg/kg, while conventional brown rice samples had an average of 0.13 mg/kg."
S. Praththana et al. (2020):
"The study found that the total arsenic content in organic brown rice ranged from 0.1 to 0.4 mg/kg, with an average of 0.2 mg/kg. Inorganic arsenic made up 47-70% of the total arsenic content."

These snippets provide a quick overview of the arsenic levels found in organic rice samples across the different studies. While the values vary slightly between studies, they generally show that organic rice can contain measurable amounts of arsenic, with some studies finding lower levels in organic rice compared to conventional rice.

Still very curious what caused his death at only 77 ?! 🤔🤔 I don't agree with his "You don't have to exercise!!!" 🤔🤔 Lots of studies show the benefits of exercise on the heart and the brain.

I just found out he passed away. So sad. He was one of the few doctors who I believed in and trusted. His
Words were those of truth and honestly. He was a genuine person with a good soul and loved helping people. That seems like a rare quality in doctors these days

Dr McDougall advocated the Covid vaccines from the beginning. I'm sorry this happened. May he rest in peace. Although I don't agree with his diet plan he was a generous human being 🙏

Mary looks so old. I think she would've liked to have eaten some olive oil, nuts, avocados but John was so strict and she didn't want to hear his mouth. I remember her saying when they had guests he would tell the guests not to eat anything with fat and she would tell him to "let them eat what they want". He was too rigid. Too extreme. I'm a vegan and I use EVOO, eat pistachios and other nuts. I have eaten avocados I just don't like them. I eat natural peanut butter. My cholesterol is very low. I don't look skeletal. John really thought he and Mary looked great when they were on stage at their seminars. All he cared about was that they were underweight. Meanwhile their bodies were starved for good fats.

It didn’t work for me. I was chronically inflamed and wasn’t losing weight because I was never satisfied. There must be some genetic component to this. Not all of us do well on plants.
