You can't deny that Mr. Peterson is a very tragic villain when you know his backstory.

Honestly, I feel bad for Mr. Peterson. He lost his wife and his Daughter. Everyone thinks he's bad, But He's not. He's keeping his son safe, and who blames someone for stopping people from breaking into his home?

edit: Nevermind, Kidnapping someone is not good.

A family man who lost his family...
No sadder words have been said.

I love how this furthers on the fact that nick from the first game probably reported Mr. Peterson and now someone else tries to do the same thing after seeing him trap his son in the basement

Despite how mediocre the games themselves have become, I can tell there are passionate people at tinybuild that really care for the story of the games. The animators, the writers and all involved in the visuals and storytelling did an amazing job, it's just a shame the level designers cheaped out so hard. But besides that, something I have noticed which I believe was intentional by the designers, is how they changed Theo's appearance in conjunction with the timelines of the games. In HNHAS, the subtle change of his sleeves being down and his gloves being off gives him this softer and more kind and gentle appearance, making him look like the family man he was before the accident. The way he playfully touches Aaron's chin and smiles is also another way they made him look like the good man he was, the animators clearly knew what they were doing with these subtle changes. Then in HN1, the difference in the sleeves being rolled up and the gloves on gives him a more scary appearance as it makes you suspect him as being a villain. Now obviously he had the gloves and rolled up sleeves way before the story was even considered, but the fact they made that change in HAS just showed that the animators knew how to make him look more friendly before the accident, a very smart design choice. And to build on this, in HN2 (and subsequent builds/unreleased game versions) he is given an even more villainous look with the added stubble and messier mustache, giving him a scruffier appearance overall. This clearly wasn't just a face-lift for the updated graphics, this was an intentional design choice to show how beaten up Theo had become by that point, and how his life had been completely ruined. Honestly, the designers and storytellers did a fantastic job on the game. In 2016 I saw a cool game with a weird bloke with a tashe, in 2022 I finally know his dreadful story of his life, and feel so incredibly bad for the man. Forget the games, I want more books, live action films, animations, use of the designed models to make a full on story for Theo. If a story can bring tears to my eyes, it's a really good story. And please, if it were to come true, don't make it all nice and kid friendly, go back to the pre-pre development stage with the cursing neighbor and scary dark tone. The game is already dark, why not fully go for it?

There's a series of books that goes deeper into a lot of this. While they are children's books, they're actually really good. I do agree that from a game perspective not getting answers is a real problem, the world and characters behind Hello Neighbor have really evolved and are fascinating to dig deeper into.

I always felt that Mr Peterson isn't quite a villain, he's just terrified of losing the only person he loves, and will do anything to stay with him, Aron would likely be taken away by social services because he killed miya, and because of his dad's mental state, there contact would be reduced to a few times a year and Mr Peterson can't take that

Has anyone thought that the shadow who knocked quinton out could not be a character but rather a weakness? Perhaps he is too empathetic as a bad trait and couldn’t bring himself to taking the boy, so he wanted to take him, but what dragged him away was the fact that he couldn’t take the boy once he saw the bond between the boy and his dad.

I have a feeling that the mysterious person who knocked out Quintin, Could be the cook/Baker if you look at the silhouette. Also as far as we know the Baker is the only one with a tall buff character model

My guess is that the shadowy figure that knocks Quentin out is one of the members of the Ravens, from the books, as throughout the museum, there are a ton of different references to the cult, from the painting in the upside-down room to the gigantic raven statue that passes through 3 floors.

It's confirmed that Hello neighbor 2 will have updates that will expand Mr Peterson's story

I think this is after act 2 and the police gets involved. But I believe the game left on a cliff hanger because they are planning dlc and updates to add to the game

When this game came out everyone thought it was just a fun puzzle game. But we were all wrong. The creators had years worth of backstory and more of the future stories 😮

So we not gonna talk about the Neighbors strength when he lifts the protagonists up with one arm like he’s Micheal Myers and throws him in the cage? With one arm?

here's my theory: in the beginning of HN2 we see the neighbor pulling Aaron into the house, and in the beginning of HN1 we see the neighbor fighting Aaron threw the window and locking him in the basement. My theory is that right after Quentin dives off in his van, then that's when Nicky shows up and sees Mr Peterson lock up Aaron in act 1. I think act 1 (after intro cut scene) and act 2 take place right after Quentin gets knocked out. then, when Quentin wakes up, it is after act 2 because the cops are at Mr Peterson's home, possibly because Nicky told them that he was kidnapped By Mr Peterson. so in conclusion my theory is that HN2 intro cut scene and act 1 intro cut scene overlap, and that When Quentin wakes up in his bed, its after act 2.

To be honest, the shadow figure at the end doesn't really make sense logically. In the past alphas, in paintings we have seen him with a close friend or what I assume is a brother. And more specifically in alpha 2, in the basement, Mr. Peterson is up stairs, but someone is downstairs taking Aaron deeper into the basement. So he at least does has a helper that isn't imaginary.
