Incredible Fish Selection at this Chain Store!

‎ Cory visited the first ever Kölle Zoo, a German pet store that both Oliver Knott and Chris Lukhaup used to work at in the 1990's. They have all sorts of fish, including a nano section specially stocked with colorful shrimp varieties, endlers, and bulldog plecos. Cory was especially intrigued by their system of using reusable containers (which come with acclimation instructions), instead of fish bags. There is also an indoor cafe where you can sit next to koi ponds under the shade of live trees.

*What feature or cool thing at Kölle Zoo do you think Cory should bring to the Aquarium Co-Op?*

It’s amazing how far advanced Germany and Europe is in aquarium keeping then the states. Hopefully we eventually get there. I love the buckets!

Love this example of a "local" fish store! I know it's a chain store but I feel that in America it would have to start on the local level. You need to jump on this Cory!

This store is just amazing. I'd never buy online if I had a store like this closeby.

I live in Germany and it's really interesting to see you visiting so many stores here and how they are different from American stores!
Regarding the reusable buckets: I have a small 20l tank with some Red Cherry Shrimp and snails. Sometimes I will sell some of my shrimp if they become too many. I then usually use small, transparent plastic buckets (maybe 0.5 to 1l) that I bought with food inside (like potato salads) as transport box. If you have something like that available I can really suggest you to use it. They close very tightly, should not contain any harmful chemicals and the people can watch the animal's from the outside. Plus they are complete free as I bought the food anyway. :D

The tags on the submerged growth (fully converted) plants to the tissue culture containers for sale - such a simple, useful system. The tag system could carryover to the potted plants as well. Love that idea💕👍

I love the reusable buckets. We all need more containers in the fish room

Wow. My jaw is on the floor. This store is amazing and I'm jealous we don't have ones this good in Texas. The reusable containers, the fish, the shrimp, the pamphlets, omg those PLANTS!

I love the bucket concept, especially how it has instructions on acclamation. I do the bucket method
Which involves pouring the bag into a bin or bucket and slowly pouring water into the bucket and net the fish afterwards. I especially love how they mention to not feed the fish until the next day

I wish we had stores like this in America. I'd spend so much time there.

I think the "bulldog plecos" at 3:12 might actually be Parotocinclus Jumbo (Pitbull Pleco/Otos), (which would explain why they're in the Nano section). Popular over there, but real hard to find over here. I think I'm on three different websites' wait list for these. Had them back in 2011, kicking myself for not breeding them. It's a fish that never stops working. Doesn't have interesting color/fin morphs like Bristlenose, but also doesn't redecorate your tank for you. You'll watch it pick up a pebble, roll it around in its mouth, and spit the thing out completely spotless.

I REALLY love the idea of reusable fish transfer containers. I don't why it hasn't caught on in all chain stores here!
