That’s not a super rare fish. That’s common in a lot of countries and continents. It’s a catfish! They can be found in S. America, Africa and Asia, sometimes Australia.

Istg these comments no nothin abt catfish, as a predator fish owner, this irritates my goofy ass, ppl in the comments are saying it’s a normal catfish and you can buy it at the fresh market for a couple units of their currency. That fish is native to my home country, that’s a pangasius sanitwonsei aka giant Chao Phrayan catfish, critically endangered due to overfishing, however, this type is a hybrid between, a redtail and the pangasius, it is pretty rare yet isn’t that expensive, it says 500$ in the title because the pangasius is shipped from Thailand, India or Pakistan, while the redtail is from south America and is captive bred in America,
in Chatuchak fish market, it’s only 50-200 Thai Baht 1.50-5.50 American Dollars.

Guys that's not common pengasius. It's called CHAO PHRAYA CATFISH (PANGASIUS SANITWONGSEI) it can eat live bait. It's predatory fish.

In Việt Nam we have this fish, we call them are Thành "Cát Tư Hãn".They really big, rare and expensive, they look same with "cá tra, cá vồ đém"

To everyone saying catfish can’t be rare I encourage you to do more research. Yes there are your common everyday catfish, but there are several types that fetch quite a bit of money due to their rarity. I myself keep a handful of rare catfish, and they’re far from something you’ll go down to the creek and easily catch.
