Classic example of how the system is broken. You can't fight the government on equal terms, because they make it too complicated to do so unless you are rich. Then they create rules to prevent you from using your own money. This case is clear injustice, and the police knew it which is why they offered her half back. Tell me how the government isn't just a form of organized crime in anything but a technical sense here.

I have a son that is a sheriff deputy so for me to say this is weird. I am really surprised more cops are not victims of crimes. If you steal my life saving that I have been saving for 30 years. There is no way I could recover from that so I would have nothing to lose. You can read into that just as it sounds.

Also, when someone withdraws a large amount of cash from a bank, sometimes the banks tip off the cops. (This is over and above the mandated reporting they do for transactions of $10, 000 or more; I keep reading about senior citizens "just happening to get pulled over" and robbed of their life savings. It happens far too often to be pure happenstance.)

Hi Steve. I remember a back in the 80’s or 90’s in Cleveland, Ohio a policeman was arrested and convicted for armed robbery for taking a man’s money during a traffic stop. Why can’t police be charged with with armed robbery? They are clearly committed armed robbery no matter what they call it.

Anyone who says the Supreme Court does not make law must seriously examine Civil Asset Forfeiture.

go to the police department and file an armed robbery and theft complaint against those officers just to make them deal with the paperwork.
Also Contact local TV and newspaper give them the details got elections coming up again, get public involved that gets politicians wanting votes involved.
also need to publish the names of all people involved in the civil asset forfeiture, the officers, government officials etc... let people know WHO EXACTLY is doing this.

What I find just as bad as civil asset forfeiture is being denied access to the courts because you missed a filing date, left out three words on a document or signed it with the wrong colored ink.

This may be the most heinous example you've told us about to date. Boyfriend found innocent, she never did anything to start with, no crime committed. What the hell?? If ever there were a reason for people to gather on the court house steps....every time time this happens there should be a peaceful protest by citizens.
