Today we we will be looking at why won't my computer turn on? will be troubleshoot and fixing a dead pc. Its a 3 years old pc that was working then crashed and stopped powering on. It sounds like a power supply issue, so it wont take long to diagnose and fix this pc.

Perfect Timing! A coworker of mine is having issues with his computer crashing. This video really helps me trouble shoot what I believe is a faulty power supply. I won't know for sure until it's in my Mitts👍

Yes Brian I used to use hogs hair brushes to clean fans and even went to the extent of wiping a little anti-static solution over the surfaces to stop dust being attracted to them it also makes the blades very slippery and (? I am perhaps wishfully thinking) to make the airflow over the blades better, I did this to all the air intake surfaces and always told people to stand their machines on a piece of hard (perhaps a small piece of laminated wood) if they are keeping their machines on the floor. On my own builds, I also added extra (and finer) filtering material to ensure that the standard filters were supplemented for better filtration. My own machines I have on a desktop as I have the space and find accessing them better.

Great video! From where I live, technicians mostly suggest getting an AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator) to "protect computers" from surges. My questions are:
1. Are AVRs really necessary?
2. What are the alternatives?

Hi Britech, great video, I wonder maybe the SSD did not boot or show up in the bios, was its power cable was still part of the Faulty Power supply?? and not your test PSU? Cheers Paul

Great video! Coincidentally, I had an old Dell OptiPlex 780 (11 years old) fail to power on this morning with a blinking amber light. Grabbed a PSU out of another out-of-service OptiPlex 780 and problem solved! It's well past time to replace that computer.

Hello Brian, I have the Samsung 970 Evo plus as a bootdrive, and the Samsung 980 for games. There a differences, the 970 plus get's hotter even with a heatshield about 53c. But the 980 is almost 10c cooler.
Also the 970 Evo plus has slower write performance than the 980.
Plus the 980 has a better powermanagement than the 970 Evo plus, when using the Samsung drive management software. I'm using a AMD 3800x, Gigabyte aorus master x570, gskill neo 3600 32gb, MSI 2070 super, Windows 11.
Why are the write speeds from 970 Evo plus slower??

Brian, I saw that you put the power supply in with the fan facing downwards. I'm a little mystified about this. Is the power supply fan an intake fan or an exhaust fan? (I've always been under the impression that the power supply fan would be an exhaust fan).

Such an expensive computer need a better main board i guess.. more durable solid condansers, a good cooler for south bridge chip on board are necassary.

I was in the middle of a game when suddenly my workstation started to slow to the point where it completely froze, after a hard shutdown I try rebooting but all I get is a short fan noise, then after 10s it restarts, and it just keeps doing it. swapped the cable, psu, and nothing 😑 any ideas.?

an AMD A8 9600
DDR4 4GB RAM.

Why does my newly built computer not post?? How do I enable the integrated graphics on the CPU?? I have a cooler, obviously. When I turn on the computer, it all lights up, but it never displays anything, even when I mash delete on the keyboard, the HDMI is plugged into the motherboard, I have cleared the CMOS.... HELP!!!

You should never mix power supply cables because there is no standard pin layout, even with same manufacturers, pin layouts are not always same. You could kill some components.

need help !!!
I got a new PC 4 months before. CSL Gaming PC / Intel i7 Processor, /Nvidia RTX 6080 / 2 TB Hard Drive / 1GB SSD
everytime I turn on the PC, ofter 5 to 10 minutes it comes with the warning " NO Signal, the Display goes to sleep Mode soon "
the PC shuts down and startet automaticly. sometimes it takes many hours till the Massage coming and the PC shuts down.
whats going wrong ?? its a brand New PC. nothings is changed . the PC monitor is a LG Ultra Gear Curves, conected to the Display Port. I tried also with HDMI Cable Connected, but got the same problem.

Maybe the drive didn't show up because you didn't connect it to the new power supply. Or did you do that off-camera
