Broken Open | Pastor Sarah Jakes Roberts

When we let life’s wounds dictate our direction, we can become so guarded that we forget how
to be vulnerable before the Lord. As a result, we wear ourselves out operating on our own
strength — while the life we long for continues to elude us.

It might sound counterintuitive, but the solution is found in acts of destruction. You must destroy your old self to chase and embrace divine intimacy above all.

In Genesis 32, Jacob’s wrestling match with God reminds us how critical it is that we open our hearts to Him to experience the power of true transformation. After that overnight fight, Jacob realized he had become someone completely different!

That same power still exists today. And once you submit to it, you’ll be empowered to be the person that God sees you as, entitling you to all the beautiful blessings He has in store for you!

Mind blown. One morning I woke up from my sleep hearing a loud voice shouting the name Jacob. I didn’t understand it at all it wasnt my name and I wrote it down and left it. But hearing this sermon was what I needed to unlock the dream and give me revelation I’ve been struggling to let go and I keep getting the word but I wasn’t sure what I should let go but it’s the image of myself the persona that I created to endure the painful things in my life. It’s the emotions that I have allowed to bottle up inside and not let them out and deal with them. It’s the vulnerability I refused to have and the conversations I refused to participate in so that I wouldn’t have to deal with the darkness inside. I needed to hear this. I am so grateful to God for this message. This past weekend I was on the floor in my room screaming and in tears. The tears wouldn’t stop coming I finally tore the scab off the wound and everything started to come to the surface and I had to ask God for help.

I’m going to rewatch this sermon again because this was my revelation. I need to be broken open God has to destroy what’s inside (the pride) to transform me.
