Great vid...I agree I must say I believe less is more when it comes to a cat harness😸😸😸

I totally disagree. When you want your cat to not escape, a vest/jacket is always better. The trick is making it FIT your cat. The ONLY way I have been able to find a harness that fits my kitties is to make it myself. I have made tons of these for friends as well and every single one agrees. A vest/jacket harness diy'ed to specifically fit each kitty with buckles and not velcro works best. My houdini cat escaped every single one I bought and she even escaped a few flimsy H-shaped ones that I made from paracord. Nope. A sewn vest/jacket from cotton fabric, denim, or even flannel or sometimes fleece. You don't want the thing to stretch. And its best to make it adjustable but thats not totally necessary. Just make sure kitty can have some freedom of movement with the legs and you are good to go out and adventure the world together!

At 1:29 you said you don't really see a need for the front. That's exactly what I'm looking for. My cat likes to take off running after critters. I can't always keep up and when he reaches the end of the leash. It jerks him back with a bit of force. This will help distribute the force more evenly and not just on the chest strap where his ribs are.

I have different harnesses for all 3 of my cats, based on their preference/ease of movement.
Freya: H-style harness
Merlin: step-in (technically dog harness)
PK: mesh harness (with chest support)

That's useful, i have an H harness for my cat and was wondering if he wouldnt be happier with a different one, but you might be right that less is more.
Ps. Please remember that every cat is different and not all of them will enjoy going outside, especialy in a harness. If your cat doesnt show signs of interest on leaving the house, its best to just not stress him with walks.

I don't imagine that velcro would be very safe or reliable, especially if you plan to do like I do and take your cat for walks. Velcro can come apart easily and even deteriorate over time, which would ultimately be a hazard and a risk that is simply not worth taking if you love your cat so much so that you actually WANT to take them outside too see the rest of the world. My kitten is WAY to curious for her own good which has greatly accelerated her training necessity. So now I need the best possible harness in order to teach her that she will be allowed to see the rest of the world, but on my terms, not hers, simply for her own safety! To each there own I suppose, but I cannot in good faith support the idea of a velcro harness. It's just too much of a risk.

The Kitty Holster is back in stock. Per my cat’s dimensions, it was the best possible fit. Don’t have it yet. I also bought the Petsafe Come With Me Kitty harness and leash as a starter set. I put it on Rascal after just showing it to him, and he acts like he has nothing on. Hasn’t resisted it at all. I adopted him when my friend died, he’s 11 years old, and he’s never worn a harness before. Granted, he’s a pretty easy-going cat, and as a Siamese he’ll do anything for hugs and a treat. However, I will take my time with the leash walking.

Everyone says the H harness is the least safe option, so it's interesting to hear otherwise. Still looking for a harness for my kitty, we're travelling together for the first time ever in 3 months and I want to start training him on things like the leash right away.

My cat has a Come with me kitty harness. This is a new thing for him, I intend to use it while he is in a backpack. Anyway, as simple as it looks I'm having difficulties in adjusting to his 14 lb body. I don't know how snug it should be, he manages to get his two front legs over the check piece. Where is the proper adjustment suppose to be, at the chest or body, it's not really explained. Those little rubber stoppers that are suppose to keep the adjusted straps in place don't work. I've adjusted the straps and pushed the stoppers in place and they just move around not holding the straps. I like the look of the harness and that it is not a jacket type but trying to get a proper fit is baffling. I'm not a fan of noisy, scary velcro.

I have purchased 2 different kinds because my 4 month cat keeps trying to go outside. But I can't get either one on him. He scratches and bites me

Supakit. Best cat harness on the market. It's a 'Y' shape harness and the safest harness. H harnesses/vest harneses aren't good for cats as if they get spooked snd pull the weight goes through the neck.

Thanks for the recommendations. I've been trying to get her to be comfy in a mesh one, but I might have to do the H harness.

What do you do if a dog comes up to the cat or barks at it.
I really want to do this but I'm worried about dogs scaring the cat.

Aint a single cat harness a cat wont get out off. I just want mine to walk around our garden so I wanted a long line and lead so it can walk around but every single harness so far, he just pulls back on it and bang, off he goes.

Mesh and Y harnesses are much better than H/butterfly/jacket harnesses becasue if they pull, an H/butterfly/jacket harnesses will pull into their throat .

Y harneses when pulling the force goes through the chest.

Supakit harneses are the best harneses on the market for cats. Its designed for cats and is multi adjustable.

My cat got out of an H harness twice. I would never recommend this type of harness!
