I recently received my first (and only) super thanks of $1.99 from a subscriber on one of my last uploads - it was pretty cool to see that. Bigger question is; do you draw attention to that new feature during a vid? I would guess that the only people that know about this new feature are the creators themselves. Furthermore, how do you do that without sounding cheesy, greedy or slimy? Btw..I have received three payments for shorts on my shorts channel ($100, $110, 100) and it took well over a million views to accomplish the reward. I’ve received zero payments from shorts on this channel despite 10’s of thousands of views. Not complaining, just unclear on how it’s actually measured.

Even though I understand why Youtube makes some of these certain qualifications, I still think it should be lowered a bit like what they did for livestreaming and for the community tab. What I mean is, for monetization, instead of having it at where you need 1000 subscribers and 4000 watch hours in the last 365 days, have it somewhere where you need 500 subscribers, and a certain number of views on your channel all together. Like for me, I have 1000 subscribers, but I don’t have 4000 watch hours in the last 365 days, just taking it as an example. Also, how do you make the guidelines show up when someone tries to comment?

I don't know a lot about Twitch but Dan seemed to imply that they have a tiered partner program. For those of us under 1K + 4 K watch hours, I would love if YouTube would give even a small bit of what they get from putting ads on my videos. About half of my videos do have ads but I get 0% from them. Not asking for the full 70/30 split but if my video is good enough for an ad anything is better than zero. Just wishing out loud here 😃 (before people start in on my wish, yes I know I get video hosting for free and that has value too).

Great video, Dan! I think the Supers split is a little stingy on YouTube's part. I think an 85/15 split in the creator's favor would be more fair.
