I am returning my bag of St Augustine seed bought at BJ’s as soon I can. Thanks a lot for the advice 👍

St Augustine does have seed, the issue is it doesn’t produce enough viable to be commercially sold. Seed that is produced has low germination and by LAW you have to have a minimum germination rate to sell as lawn seed. So, you have to plug it or sod.

Used to work at a lawn supply company that dealt with tons of seed and sod daily.

Chad, thanks for all the info you give us.

I live in Florida with St. Augustine grass and I've been battling dry spots in the yard, since I bought this house 7 years ago. The sprinkler hits these areas fine, but the soil is hydrophobic, the water just runs off on these areas. I've been punching holes in the the ground with a pitch fork and top dressing the areas with black kow, which seems to help. But if I don't do this every 2 to 3 months these area become dry and hydrophobic again? Any idea's on how a more permanent fix?

If I were to plant a trey full of plugs will it take over my yard ? I currently have zoysia but that was a waste of time, money and sweat. Or would it be best to just do st Augustine sod ?

Chad i would think that is false advertisement on their part. I bought some st augustine plugs i'am pretty sure they are getting seed heads. I will be using black kow and humic acid do you think i'am on the track? Great vids

Well now I remember as a boy growing up, I was responsible for mowing the yard and we had St Augustine.
Sometimes I would let it get out of hand and I recall the grass growing seed heads. Are you saying those seed heads were unviable????🤔

Love the videos and I always stumble on yours when I’m searching for lawn care videos for Central Florida and St Augustine. I’m super new and learning. Should any kind of over seeding take place at any time of year for St Augustine? If so, what seed and when? A lot of other sites and videos can be confusing, because they preach like gospel, but they don’t often apply to us in FL. Keep it up. 💪

What would be a type of grass that looks and resist hot weather as st Augustine grass. A grass that can get the seeds
