Is the TS8000 Torch really worth the extra money?

I have used the ts4000 and 8000 for many years. I absolutely love the 8000. It is insanely durable, you can run an entire bottle thru it in 1 session and it won't phase it. I actually hook mine up to my 100 lbs propane tank and blow glass with mine. The 8000 took center stage so instead of retiring the 4000 I bored out the center arrested and now that thing is a beast.

Good illustration, really helpful. I just bought the TS4000 and didn't know the difference from the 8000. Now I know, thanks to you.

I've been in the market for one but I can't decide between the TS-8000 and the Turbotorch 504.

If you look up the Safety Data Sheet. The blue propane bottle is; 87.5~100% propane, 0~10% propylene, 0~7% ethane, and 0~2.5% butane. The yellow Map-Pro bottle is; 99.5~100% propylene and 0~0.5% propane.

Yes I also love my 8000 I did have a problem of knocking it over all the time which made me concerned to damage it, so I made a stand to keep it upright. With the higher price it was worth making a holder for it

There does seem to be problems with the ts8000 lately with failures of the electronic start mechanism. And it is an internal failure inside the assembly. That's not a great thing.

I have the ts8000 i use it for my wood stove to get things cooking instead of me blowing on paper and sticks and smacking my old bic lighter to get it to start. I was blowing out black shit out my nose, my eyes would burn and my house would filll with smoke. Now with a quality torch i can set the sicks on fire and it makes my life easier.

I got the first one that doesn’t have a gas valve to adjust. For the longest time I never used the lock out to keep it going because I didn’t know what it did. One day I was fooling around with it and found out what it did. I thought it was handy when I wanted to use it hands free.

I put my parts on a piece of diamond steel mesh, I folded the ends down to hold it about 8 inches above my bench. It worked well because flame gets around the whole part even underneath it. I made all kinds of stuff on it. The mesh warps and moves in the middle at first but the steel gets soft and it stops doing that after it's been red hot a few times.

The comments here are pretty funny.
No need to guess what MAP-Pro is, just check their MSDS. It's ~99.5% propylene and ~0.5% propane. Compared to the blue bottle which is 0-10% propylene, and ethane and butane and propane. So it's not "just propane" as many here suggest.

My favorite feature of the TS8000, over many cheap options, is that it has a regulator and can work inverted. It's not recommended but it's much less problematic. I use it to start my charcoal bbq and sear food.

they say the other model is only used with propane and cannot be used on mappro but the newer torch can be used on both and idk why that is or forgot

I use my yellow can for hot oil. When that stuff get cold you will be out for days with the blue bottle

MAPP (5300*F) burns much hotter than MAP-Pro (3730*F) or propane (3600*F).

I have exactly these 2. There’s no comparison. TS8000 is 10 times better. It’s a beast.

I've had multiple of these. The lighter falls apart on all of them after a few months. Poor quality.
