It would cosr the owners more, but they could convert rhe 2 yo / 3 yo seasons to 3 yo / 4 yo. The horses would have time to develop their growth plates. Instead of pinhooking yearlings to 2 year olds it could be 2 year olds to 3 year olds. In the 1940's horses could race 200 times going 2 miles. Breeding for rarly maturity has made them too unsound.

The deep rooted criminal element in horse racing rearing it's ugly head . Who could trust such skullduggery. Sinister goings on tears the heart and soul out of the sport. When the racing public looses confidence in the sports integrity, where the rich get richer and the poor stay poor is a loosing game.

I just started to really learn handicapping, but with all these recent events, I'm quitting for now. I need hard evidence that something is changing to my satisfaction, and so far I haven't seen it. I don't even know what that would be, not being a horse expert, but I'll know it when I see it. I'll also formulate new or follow-up questions as reports come out, IF they come out.

Question: Would insurance have anything to do with this? I am very ignorant about this industry, but makes you wonder about this aspect and if it factors into the equation.

Horse racing is cool, but the number of deaths need to go down, I think it would be reasonable to have deaths in single digits per year because I don't think we can get to zero. Ending racing would be bad because the people who own and care for these animals couldnt care and to have thousands of homeless horses suddenly would be bad. I dont get why everyone thinks that when horses die for greed its wrong but when others die for greed its fine.
