Intel NUC 12 Pro Review - Power in the Palm of Your Hand

Показать описание
Intel’s 2022 tiny NUC mini desktop PC sports P series Alder Lake 12th gen Core i5 and i7 CPUs. It’s small enough to mount to on the back of a monitor using the included VESA mount, yet it’s more powerful than most 28 watt laptops. Generationally, we so solid improvements here. It has RAM and SSD slots, Wi-Fi 6E, 2.5Gb Ethernet and two Thunderbolt 4 ports. As ever, it’s one of the smallest PCs on the market. It’s sold bare bones (no RAM, SSD or OS) or you can buy it from SimplyNUC and others who will install those for you.

My household uses 3 of those little darlings. NUC 8, 10, 11. I'm getting ready for mine, a NUC 12. They're just fantastic for the money.

Thanks a lot for the review. I am looking at that form factor. One aspect that you forgot to mention is the fan noise level which is a buying decision factor if it is going to sit on a desktop close to the user.

The NUCs have been great for me. Replaced a full shelf off tower servers with four NUCs in a tenth off the space, power and noise. They haven't all been perfect for servers though as the cooling wasn't meant for continuous use. An external fan to cool the nvme solved that issue but looks ugly.

Ow yeah now that’s a real Nuc computer. Incredible performance in a Altoids can (figuratively).

When I saw the thumbnail I actually thought it was a Nintendo Gamecube with a mini PC on top.

You State the 2280 NVM is the boot Drive but can you use the 2242 as the boot drive? Otherwise I don’t see the point in the 2242 with limited storage capacity in this size.

Picked up a similar model on ebay. It didn't come with ram, harddrive or an OS for £170.
Slapped in 16gb ram and a harddrive, installed windows via USB and wallah... I have a really fast machine for less than £300. An absolute bargain

I am disappointed that they use a plastic case (even though they put it around an inner metal frame). The older NUCs have a solid feeling metal case. Hope a future NUC will bring back the metal case.
I also don't like the power block. My old NUC7i5 with 15W TDP has a small power supply, which fits the NUC much better, as it makes for a really small package to carry around.

WHY CAN'T MORE PEOPLE COPY INTEL'S IO? SERIOUSLY, so many of these tiny PCs I've passed up since they make the most baffling IO decisions. Save for ASROCK whose NUC line is also well IO-ed for the size. Also supports a 3.5in drive.

Amazon has the Beelink with the 5560U for $330. That's not bad.
The Vega-7 even can play games.

The product links don't work correctly in the UK. They link to other systems but not what you intended.

Maybe they want to avoid different SKUs för different markets, hence no power cord in the box.
