Barbossa should've said "Its just, good business" just to mess with Groves while giving him Endeavor flashbacks

After preparing for battle so confidently, "It appears they think it's not even worth the time to sink us". LOL

Would have laughed when barbossa looked through the glass and the Spaniard just gave him the finger without looking in Barbossa's direction.

Admittedly that is a very well trained well disciplined crew, getting what I believe is a Fifth Rate or Fourth Rate of the Line ready for battle within what I believe in film was under ten minutes. This was what the Royal Navy actually strived for with its more professional crews during the Golden Age of Piracy. Because Pirate attacks tended to be unconventional by definition, the Royal Navy tried to train its crews to be ready for action at the drop of a hat.

It's hilarious how the British and the Spanish ended up just sailing right next to each other for perhaps days.

this scene is a fucking masterpiece, even the movie being not good, this scene saved it.

the camera coming over the Providence, and the soundtrack, the way Barbossa give the orders and the Brits get ready to rock the Spaniard, and then they have to change posts to manage the sails.

Ultra fucking cool

The Royal Navy was defeated multiple times by the Spanish Navy, but History omits it.

Francis Drake, was defeated in Veracruz in the battle of San Juan de Ulua in 1568.

The Invincible English, invasion fleet sent by Elizabeth I to defeat to the Spanish navy, was defeated by Spain and its navy in 1589.

Edward Vernon was defeated in Cartagenas De Indias by Blas de Lezo in 1741.

Horacio Nelson, the great victor of Trafalgar, was defeated in Tenerife, Spain, 25 of July of 1797.

Something that always bothered me was that Groves was not the leader of the expedition, he was a hero in the battle of pirates of the Caribbean 1, he helped the East Indies and survived the battle in the maelstrom, anyone would imagine that all those feats would be worth it the title of Admiral at least and many medals on his chest. But in Stranger Tides he ended up being one more servant, his entire military life was spent receiving orders from Norrigton, Becket and now Barbossa, it is sad that someone so loyal to the crown and the king did not receive the promotion he deserved. Groves deserved his own ship and his crew, not everyone survives all those battles

"We be privateers not pirates master Gibbs, and in the kings name we'll behave as such."

Privateers were pirates paid to act like pirates and not attack the navy of the nation they were privateering for. They'd also be granted immunity toward this nation.

Example, Edward Teach (Blackbeard) was an English privateer along side Benjamin Hornigold during the Queen Anne's War, when the war ended and their privateering days were over they went back to normal piracy, which of course was illegal, though most evidence suggests Blackbeard and Hornigold even after the war refused to attack English ships out of loyalty.
