Thanks, as a relatively new guitarist to gear I appreciate these kinds of explanations. I picked up a Katana 100 and there's so many features I barely know where to start with this thing haha. I love the amp though, sounds great.

It was so simple and yet I had it set up wrong. Thanks Austin from Boston :-)

You may also say that people must set CHAIN to CHAIN3 in the software, to skip BOOSTER & DELAY/FX of the signal. If not, looper sound will take the effects you set for your guitar too (and you want to avoid these when connecting the Loop).

"The KATANA-100 FX Loop Send/Return is located within the AMPLIFIER EQUALIZER section of the KATANA EFFECTS CHAIN. This can be accessed and changed with the BOSS TONE STUDIO SOFTWARE. Options for CHAIN 1, CHAIN 2 and CHAIN 3 are available for selection.

If you are using a LOOPER pedal (ie. BOSS RC-3/30/300) with the KATANA, use CHAIN 3 for the best functionality, REVERB will still be the ending effect but can be set to zero. ".

Thanks for your video. In addition(I'm using the BOSS RC-30): In this way the looper is connected behind the pre-amp. As a result, switching effects (Effects) on the amplifier still affects the sound reproduction from the looper. This can be adjusted with the computer and the BOSS software for the Katana. There you can include the looper behind the effects section in the circuit of the amp. The only thing that still has an effect on the recording is the reverb part of the amplifier. Cheers

Awesome video. Extremely helpful. Going upstairs now, to see if I can get it worked out! I was hoping the Effects Loop on the back of the Amp would do this. But I wasn't sure- and it's great to see the hook-up here! Tanks for this.

Thank you. I couldn't figure out why my chorus pedal sounded like crazy. Also ditto looper wasn't staying clean when I switched channels. Thought I had it correct, persay the instructions. Your video got me right as rain.

if you dont use pedals, plug a patch cable between the send/return jacks, then you can add a programmable volume boost to every channel. (add the volume in either the send or return with the software editor, the best for solo boosts!

very simple explanation. it's also great for distortion pedals, so they're not fighting the preamp

So where should I put a 535Q? I’ll try the effects loop first. Just got the Katana Artist. Usually use a 500VL next to the guitar to use instead of the guitar volume knob but in the manual it looks like it will work plugged into the back. So excited to play with this. Straight out of the box it made my playing better because of the incredible pick response. When I dig in on the low E it thumps and i haven’t got past 50 watts yet! It really allows me to express myself. Love the Yamaha THR30II but more power is more better.

Thanks guys for the information on setting the send and receive to Parallel in the software .. I have a RC 30 loop station it would play through amp but the Guitar would not play along with the RC 30 very frustrating until I made these changes.

Just a fyi for people having issues like I did. I used to cables to run my looper through the effects loop and no sound. I looked on reddit and one commenter suggested going into tone studio to make sure the loop input and out put were on. I discovered the effects loop was turned off for some custom presets I down loaded and on for others. So I turned it on for each patch hit write which fixed that issue. So I disconnect my laptop put it back on my desk so I can play. Well I set the volume in and out at 50% so now the loopers isn't load enough so back to tone studio to make more adjustments. Be careful not to turn the one on the left on the screen to loud (I have mine set to 30%) or it will cause the amp to distort bad. I have the one on the right set to 100%. I should be able to fine tune from the pedal. I'm not sure why you would want the effects loop off? Or what the reasoning behind being able to turn it off was?

FX loop is especially practical when using a tube booster for leads, choruses etc. That way the boost is not effecting and distorting your clean sound from preamp.
