To go off of your last point, something that helps me when I wanna try out new things and experiment with my style is just taking daily fit pics. I have an Instagram account where I post them bc I find that format easier since I can archive things I don't like and add captions, but even just having an album on your phone can work just as well. It's helped me pinpoint what I normally like to wear and figure out what about the fits I like are appealing to me, and I'm able to apply those same principles to future fits where I can safely change things up in a way that makes me feel good.

For example, I already knew I liked long and loose silhouettes, but taking pictures helped me realize the specific type of layering I like and that my goal is usually to look like a straight up and down rectangle/de-emphasize my hips. I could look at my pictures and remember whether I felt good or not in an outfit and then tweak things from those fits to create a new look. It's also helped me figure out how to repurpose clothes I stopped liking in new ways to achieve looks I wanted but didn't realize I already had access to.

The other thing I do is use a closet app where I put pictures of all my clothes and can make collages to plan outfits with them. It's nice having an inventory because before I buy something new I can add it to the closet app and see how well it fits with my existing wardrobe and whether I can incorporate it into my style to get the effect I want. It's a lot of setup up front but after the initial effort it's made experimenting with style soooo much easier for me.

The outtro Jade! Ha! hilarious... i think you may have been mixing '''one size fits all'' and 'if the shoe fits...'' lol.... but somehow you got it right in the intro and then forgot by the end of the video. lol

Big tip for me too was to JUST. TRY. IT. ON ! Also dont be afraid to size up and the numbers on clothes are arbitrary. Measure clothes you love on your body, it will help with online shopping. Ive even shamelessly brought in a tape measure to a thrift store. Lol some dont have dressing rooms.

It took me 3 days to get through this video. I knew what you had to say would resonate as it would be the final push I needed to hear.
I have been wearing the same style since my early 20s - jeans and a tshirt. I haven't been feeling good in my body - no matter how much I gymed. For the last year I have worked on my confidence and accepting my body as is. And I am finally ready and happy to start finding out what my style is. So excited to!!!

I literally had a moment today while shopping with a friend! (They were shopping, I was just trying stuff on) When I was trying on a knit sweater, I was adjusting the length to see how I would like it better

I usually don’t try things on since I normally buy the same thing over and over, so it was nice to have a physical reference to WHY I like the cuts and fabrics I like and specifically what I look for.

I guess I’ve just learned to try things on 😅

People tend to forget that fashion is utilitarian, we don't wear the scarf because it is an 'absolute trend setter', we wear it because it keeps your neck warm. I don't wear a beanie to hide my mechanical robot head, I wear it to keep my very normal human head warm 😉 yes human head yep that's me.

Same goes for an automobile, a ship, a plane, a home. We can subject a flower to looking pretty, but when it comes to a (personal preferenced reference / say that 3 times fast) say, 1950 Cadillac...well its harder to name the part about it that is so attractive and also pretty. Perhaps the delicate lines, or the color...but what is happening is us adjusting to that function design in the process that becomes functioning also becoming form. Airplanes represent this wonderfully, in the beginning it was very predictable in design in showing how it functioned, and then cut to 30 years later and now there is this metal plated spearing compartment with swift aerodynamic styling and a script on the side, propellers, fins, and full piece low wings. The perfect description of taking a very mechanical and function based design WHICH IS LESS DESIGN AND MORE LITERALLY JUST THE INNER MECHANICS AND SUPPORTS I DON'T KNOW WHAT OTHER UTILITARY WORD TO USE...and transforming the exoskeleton of that 'design' into a more desired ...look I guess but then what about the other look do we like so much, and hell some people like the original look of the flyer plane in the 1900s. So I think we like the look of what the tools become for different things; in 1913, one automobile company design a vehicle that was quite literally the motor frame with wheels, and honestly I love the way it looked. And then others prefer fender cut race bodies of the 1920s without the swooping sides and headlight, or headlight and back fender, or no fender, headlights and bumper, or no bumper because honestly its all customizable in thought.

And this harkens back to fashion, a sweater is utilitarian in that it wraps around to keep something warm or cool depending, however with that ingenuity and touchup and addition, it starts to be recognized as more art than engineering (of course engineering is art, but engineering is more idea art, than visual art that people enjoy about seeing building frames & engines & construction and all that).

I love the validation for the fact that I just wear more or less the same kind of outfits all the time. I always feel like I'm being boring and need to "elevate" but I just feel comfortable and like the same old clothes I wear every day.

I'm a cancer, but it's sucha leo think we have in common to be so painfully close and repeat the same mistake over and over under pressure. 😏
