When we have a game as beautiful as ghost of Tsushima that runs incredibly, it shows that it’s poor optimisation not poor console ability

I’m 19 hours into Wukong. The game has crashed once. There’s definitely some frame rate issues, but the pros massively outweigh the cons. My PS5 experience has been pretty good overall. I’m playing performance mode and enjoying the hell out of the game.

It's not really 60fps that's the issue. 30fps has always been standard on console. It's the massive, massive image quality problems that a lot of modern games have. Ray-tracing and fancy effects are nice, but they don't mean much when the game's a blurry mess running at 1080p on a big 4K TV.

reduce the assets to the necessary degree to get 1440p native like Stellar Blade.

Just to Rich is aware. Developers actually do that. Genshin for instance, doesn't have a 120fps mode on any platform aside from iOS, because Apple paid for the feature exclusivity. Apple also paid for mobile controller support.

Are we gonna talk about the fact that Batman Arkham Knight still looks so stunning today. Can run it max settings, full resolution and at a solid 120 frames no dlss required. Have a 3080. And now every little game now a days not on the scale of Batman struggles. Even Witcher 3.. that was a perfect solid experience.. is just buggy and poorly optimized after the “next gen” update.

I get these are old games. And technology evolves. But then what is Jedi Survivor’s excuse?

Kinda seems like we’re prioritizing graphics a little too much
Or are hyping up technologies that are not even fully optimized or learned properly for the sake of a few more pixels… even tho by all accounts BAK is prettier than most of the games out today.. and it’s a solid experience. Maybe not at launch. But it is now.
And I don’t need the newest fanciest most expensive graphics card out there to run it.

I don’t think this is gaming. This is not what gaming is to me anyway.

This is all just sad.

I would say that the majority of my current gen games I play I use quality mode. I’ve found that the visual sacrifices to achieve 60fps sometimes are more than I’m willing to trade off with. It would be nice to see some of these games perform at 60-120fps in their “default graphics modes” for example, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth looks “terrible” in performance mode

I just been on performance mode. I haven't had an issue yet. It's not perfect but is visually great and fun

Thing is, we would need a generation or two of consoles with games looking the same as they did on ps4 just to catch up and provide a true 4k 60fps native. You cant have two generations of consoles only providing a boost in resolution and framerate. People would go mad that we had no advancements in graphics and rendering techs. The jump in proccesing power needed to go from 1080p 30fps to 4k 60fps is massive. Ps4 already was struggling and still used upscaling in the form of checkerboarding to get to 4k

4:33 I had this in so many games and most from me comes from the TAA, I unfortunately don't have Unreal Universal Unlocker for Unreal 5 but I use it often for UE4 Games and switching the aliasing type to FXAA removes all of that, Since i'm playing on a 10 series GPU I guess is making anything that's aliased have dithering. or perhaps is just some rendering technique from unreal that just looks better on more recent machines. It looks really similar on wukong though I have not played yet.

Despite the performance mode maintaining 60fps the vast majority of time. The latency seems very high to me. Compared to playing on my PC.

No we dont. It's not the console, its the developers. There are other games that have been out for years on the PS5 that look and run better and they are massive games like this. Im not mad at the developers tho, they are small and new and only made mobile games.

Hopefully they optimized it so many dips on Performance mode and the input lag makes you hard to dodge and attack consecutively. HFW has better graphics and well optimized.

💯 I CAN NOT WAIT FOR THE PRO!!!! Day 1 Purchase. Black Myth on PS5 just need a few patches on the console and it will be good. I love the quality mode, but it just needs a simple 30fps locked cap.

No matter what I play it on the visuals are so grainy in motion due to w/e they did in game, Its almost too much tech going on to actually make it smooth or something
