Paul is a well-known cosmologist and astrobiologist who researches the possibility of life beyond Earth.

He says the past century has revolutionised human knowledge of the universe, but some essential mysteries remain unknown:
What, if anything, existed before the Big Bang?

Are there other universes, and could they crash into ours?
And how is it that humans have the ability to comprehend the cosmos in the first place?

If the chance of a life friendly earth ( in itself appears to be somewhat unique in the cosmos) emerging in this finely tuned universe is infinitely small, that is 1 over infinity and there are an infinite number of universes results in just one. One divided by infinity then multiplied by infinity equals one, but also zero and infinity.
