Benny Sings: NPR Music Tiny Desk Concert

For more than 10 years, fans have been drawn to Dutch singer-songwriter Benny Sings' ability to layer R&B, jazz and pop over hip-hop foundations. While it was only a matter of time before he'd play behind the Tiny Desk, we never expected the performance to be his very first in the U.S. This is also where he performed with background vocalist Jennah Bell for the first time. As a bonus, his beat machine was miraculously repaired following a malfunction minutes prior to showtime.

All that should have revved up a fair amount of paranoia, but Benny Sings quickly shed any evidence of nervousness and jumped into action like a veteran, performing a song from his latest album ("Beach House," from Studio) and an old favorite.

I enjoy all of the Tiny Desk Concerts but I come back to this one most often.

I love this man. To see him perform his music on an American series makes me so happy! Benny Sings is a serious talent, all of his albums are gems. The man sings, plays, and records everything in his own studio in his apartment! I hope he'll play shows in the U.S. Starting with LA!

I almost didn't give this a chance....then Jennah's voice came in so I stuck around. And then it all just grew on me and now I'm listening again and again.

The description confirmed it but that accent was very much regonizable being a Dutchman myself. It's remakrable how you can hide possible accent in singing. This was nice, don't want to distract from their performance.

I love the tone of his voice.
Really I do not know if it's the simplicity of its tone or the magic that causes such a harmonious combination between piano, beats and vocals.
