The DJI FPV Drone - 3 Years Later - 2024

The DJI FPV Drone is 3 years old!

For anyone who is a beginner and wants a Ready To Fly FPV Drone that is DIGITAL, then the DJI FPV Kit or the DJI AVATA Kit are excellent, because the FPV Digital Goggles can be used with all the PRO FPV Drones on the market and a BEGINNER can fly either drone in NORMAL Mode right out of the box with no skills.

I just bought a DJI FPV and man this video answered a BUNCH of questions I couldn't find anywhere else! Thank you, Captain - two big thumbs up!!

Love my Dji FPV for almost three years now. Saw it reviewed on Captin Drone and had to have it.
It opened up a whole new world for me. Now I'm addicted to the hobby.

The "fat banshee" has been lots of fun blasting up and down my lake. Glad it is in the collection.

People hate it, I love it. It got me ready for the Mark5. Held my hand, told me where it got lost, and it's my drone that I wish DJI would update to O4.

Hey Steve
Haven’t been on here watching drone videos lately and I’m so happy to come across this one. I don’t know why, but you always seem to get me in A happy mood. Glad to see you’re doing these videos still. Thank you

I have two of the FPVs and an Avata and love them all. I'm certainly no FPV racer/stunter as I would wager a large percentage of us are and these drones are a perfect fit. The immersion/sense of flight with the goggles and impressive video (more so on the Avata) checks the boxes for me. Note: Mini Pro 3 and 4 along with Air 3 are now compatible with Goggles and motion controller (which is a fantastic and intuitive way to fly imo).

I just bought my first real drone, the Avata 2, and I'm having so much fun with it. It's cool to see how its evolved from its great grandfather here.

Was thinking of selling mine then remembered it's still a beast.

I'm a "beginner" that has been disappointed by every "easy to fly" drone I wasted money on.
This is my first FPV drone
BUT! 28yrs of satisfying my flight lust with flight simulators...

Developing the skill should be somewhat easier.
Also, this one is the one that exceeds my maximum requirements.
#1 being no fkng around with a fkn smart phone.
#2 I don't want to start in a fast mode for learning.
#3 FPV
#4 good return mode
#5 some sort of collision avoidance.
#6 under a thousand bucks.
FKN Amazon showed it to me before I bought a lot of crappy drones that would not connect to the smart phone.
Thanks a lot, Cappin'!
USEFUL Video!!

Thanks for the video!

I just dusted my DJI FPV drone off and flew it this past week. It's still a great drone for many of the reasons you showed! I normally fly my own home built drones, but it's hard to get really good video (especially with a stable hover) compared to a DJI Drone. My biggest complaint is that DJI is overly aggressive and makes you get approval for a lot of class G air space in the US (if there is a small rural airport, helipad, etc.). Drone Hacks are a great way to get around this.

One of the big downsides to this drone is the weight, and in the US you need a remote ID as of March 14, 2024 to fly legally. DJI does have some capability with the latest firmware to enable a remote ID broadcast, but it comes at the expensive of requiring internet access and you goggles tethered to a phone. I decided to buy a stand alone (holybro) remoteID which can easily be velcro'd to the top.

I love mine. I regularly fly it, have over 140 flights on each battery, but they are starting to loose their punch. But I love the fact it does a little bit of everything. 100% recommend to get the drone hacks and “release” its potential. 👍

Ive had it for years, I have grown to love it. It's its own thing and is a rather large 🥔 but everyone loves potato. I can get great shots and enjoy flying it

I honestly love this drone. I love being able to fly it as a fpv drone or a regular Dji drone. Sometimes I don’t want to fly in manual mode and want to relax a bit. And when I do want some speed, I can fly in manual. If I want to do tricks and all that, I have a Tinyhawk for that!

I bought this drone with the motion controller for various non-FPV pilots to fly, and combined they all have much more time on it than myself. My dad has chased my FPV plane around with it in sport mode quite competently. My sister, some cousins and some neighbor kids have flown it in normal mode. I give em some basic instructions, get em in the air, tell em to fly over power poles (not between em, as it can't see wires) and pretty much set em loose on their own.

Absolutely love this drone. Every weekend I take it out and have a blast. I recently put it in Sport mode mode and holy hell it moves!

I can't believe it's been 3 yrs already. I remember this thing turned the fpv world upside down. All the die-hards hated it but everyone that flew camera drones had a crossover. It always blew me away how fast and heavy and powerful it was. Like a cannonball with spinning dicing blades.😅😂

I stopped flying in 2017 after my father passed away but picked one of these up recently. I wanted an fpv style drone but didn't want the hassle. This drone is awesome!

My biggest gripe though is the damn noise. It's so offensive 😭
