17:25 just missed that sign while flying backwards! Would have been a good crash test 😜

Your FPV Mama is awesome Bubby.
Good energy radiating from her.

So as a complete beginner, I agree that I don't think it will withstand any substantial crash. BUT! Thankfully, in mode 1 it really helps you not crash while you figure out how your stick movement is interacting with the drone. I absolutely love that, because even on a sim, it get's frustrating for me because there is such a disconnect with how to make the sticks do what you want it to do. Then I just keep crashing and I can't get into a rhythm of learning. This drone allowed me a lot of grace to figure it out... then I was able to "get the feel" of what to do, and I did it! I thiiiink I'll be able to get into full manual mode soon. We shall

My goal is to learn with this until I'm in full manual mode, then build my own 5" HD drone. Happy I'll already have the V2 goggles to grow with.

I've never seen someone's mom be so stoked at their kids hobby.

Thank you from an old guy (71) who got his Mavic last year this is the way to get into FPV. You guys are great! I will never be able to do what you do, but it's fun to watch you!

im thinking people who start on this wont ever progress enough to do fullout freestyle fpv because they cant be fixed/built the way typical quads can be and its pricey. How many times does someone crash before mastering hard moves? That being said its pretty amazing just not sure where it fits.

I've watched more then half a dozen reviews about this drone. This was by far the best being most honest about key features both good and bad - while also showing real freestyle capabilities. Great video! I'm sold, I'd love to get one and get my way into the FPV world!

I have had a few DJI drones and about 3 fpv quads over the years. I always start in angle mode and go into horizon but never made it to flying full acro all the time before inevitably crashing them and not knowing what or how to fix it. When I saw this I was sold. I've had it 2 weeks and with the simulator, warranty and panic button I'm in full acro all the time. After crashing my last $500 rtf kit I swore I was done with quads but I just love the hobby. This thing literally got me back into fpv and you can fly it in beginner mode and take great gimbal photos too. Jack of all trades but a master of none and I couldn't be happier

Manual mode seems like an exciting yet expensive way to fly.

Forget the drone! That's the coolest mom I 've ever seen

As an avid FPV flyer, this has its pros and cons. The latency can have a problem for courses that require pinpoint accuracy as well as maximum speed, but damn that clarity is something that you've really got to see!

You guys are awesome. I just got this drone, I'm a total beginner. This is my first drone. Thanks for the review and tips. If you both like it, I know I made a good call!

Drew is so good at throwing shade ^_^ "the lights are the best feature of this drone so far". Haha also when drew was reeling in vanover like a fish to calm his bias down haha I'm dying 🤣

I think Rotor Riot did a fantastic job introducing this drone into the FPV world, nice job guys and AWESOME shout out to FPV Mama! That was so fun to watch her fly and see what her son has been doing all these months. I'm stoked, I fly FPV, have been for 7 months now and I am just in love with this hobby all around. Been building, flying, crashing and fixing but this new DJI drone is going to be a whole different ball game and just get's me more excited about the hobby. Can't wait to pick mine up on Saturday!!!

The panic switch is absolutely an amazing feature to have on this drone but you can make one with a normal racing drone setup. I currently have a panic switch and it works wonders. There are little spots where I fly that I call “Black out zones” and these are spots where my goggles just completely cut and my screen goes to static. I have my controller set up so I have a switch that can control all three flight modes (Acro, Horizon and Angle). I have acro set up at the top of the switch because that’s how I fly, then the middle is horizon and at the bottom is Angle. If something happens like I hit a black out zone, I flick that switch and boom, the drone is self righted and level, after this I wait a second then hit the throttle slowly so it goes higher (Just keep in mind it will not hover!!!). This allows the drone to be higher up and I can take off my goggles if needed to bring the drone back safely. This is an amazing thing to have and it has saved my drone many times. Hope this helps somebody that wants this feature.

One year later...

I remember seeing an FPV quad video maybe 5-6 years ago and immediately going, "where can I buy one of those?!?!?!" and then found out you pretty much had to build the things from scratch. I'm not a scientist, not an engineer, I barely understand electricity (things turn on, I use them), and building one was beyond my abilities (and to be honest, really didn't want to put in the time to learn how).

I pretty much didn't give another thought to FPV until a month ago when I saw a video about the DJI FPV pop up on my YT feed. I had to own one. Immediately ordered it on Amazon. Within 1 week I had it on acro mode doing flips and rolls. Two weeks after that I was doing inverted yaw spins, rubiks cubes, mattyflips (all thanks to Drew). Three weeks later I had my first crash and broke an arm.

Suffice it to say I drank the whole jug of Kool-Aid and I'm hooked. I'm now looking for a "real" freestyle BNF quad that I can really rip on. But without the DJI FPV, this whole hobby would still have been out of reach to me.

Shout out to Drew, Joshua, and the rest of the Rotor Riot crew for easing my way into the world of FPV.
