This is by far the most thorough test I've seen, well done, this helps me to better understand how the MBP compares against the MBA, in particular I was surprised to see how well the M2 MBA performed vs the M1, after seeing those bloggers testing and ringig a fire alarm that the M2 256 is slower than the M1, in any case, I think if someone is going to need this type of heavy export and editing, they better buy an MBP, I am ordering the MBA M2 to take it on the road and leave behind my MBP 16" that is great....but ...heavy

This is what you Call a true and comprehensive review. Unbiased and accounting for most or Almost all factors that may affect performance. Ergo, m2 MBA is still better than the M1. And ssd speed is not much of a Blg deal. If you are really a pro, JUST get the Dam M1 pro, max and ultra. But for most users, M2 Air is definitely worth an upgrade.

It's not about whether anyone will notice the difference of the slower ssd, the point is a company should NEVER downgrade any part of the product while increasing its price.

First I would like to say I really like your reviews Art. You are very thorough and you have not fallen into the clickbait-trap using sensational titles and so on like so many of the other youtubers do. So thank you for that.

I currently have the Macbook Air M1 16GB/512GB which I bought in december 2020. That machine has made me switch completely from Windows to Mac. So I added a Mac Ultra M1 earlier this year. The Ultra is the machine I do most of my photography work on. I am not a pro.

I will upgrade my Macbook Air to the M2 24GB/2TB version for two main reasons . 1 I regretted only getting 512GB ssd originally. 2 The magsafe charging giving me an extra thunderbolt port. Another reason for the upgrade is related to my daytime job which is software development and currently I have a windows laptop for that but I want to swap that out with a Macbook. I do not need the pro version for this kind of work since I for that job use Chrome and Visual Studio Code 99% of the time. I know some will probably say that for that kind of work I don't need 24GB ram however with the amount of chrome tabs I currently have open Chrome alone uses 19GB ram.

I have a question… I still have an intel Windows Laptop and would like to switch to MacBook… Would you recommend the M1 or M2 MacBook Air for a person that uses the laptop for browsing the web, watching videos and doing normal stuff (writing, researching and stuff)?

Great review and test Artis- but on your next video could you just hold it in different possess to get a sense of the look and feel? Maybe one where you hold it on your side, next to your hip, like you hold a book when you are walking to class. And maybe another one holding it up against your chest like a 50’s girl waiting near her locker talking about her crush… hopefully this made sense. Thank you in advance.

Such a detailed review! Thank you for this. Please can you advise if I should get 256gb or 512gb? My use would typically be Netflix, YouTube, word, PowerPoint, excel, surfing the web. I plan on keeping the machine for ages about 7-8 years. If I get 256gb will the macOS updates eat up my storage over the years? I’m worried the updates will get larger and larger?

Great video, i am photographer mostly work with lightroom and photoshop, i understand the 14” mbp m1 pro is the best choice, but sadly my budget only allowed me to get 512gb m2 mba, or 512gb m1 mbp 13”, i more consider the 15” mba m2 for the screen, how do you think, which one should i get?
