As a black guy, I can tell you that I would check my locks driving thru the hood (if they didn't auto lock anyway) and not worry about it at all in a white suburb. You should be street smart. That guy walked by and he looked fine, but he'd remind me that someone else might be sneaking up from behind and I'd click that lock button 3 times. I've had a gun pulled on me twice in my car, both times I had my doors locked and sped away. Has that ever happened to you in a white neighborhood?

A crazy lady once opened the passenger's side's door of my car while I was stopping at a crossroad, I'm still living with the trauma.
Oh, for reference, my car is old, it doesn't have that auto-lock button, I would've had to lock it manually, but it just never occurred to me that someone would try to open it.
