I believe it's a culture clash problem. Like hamza I'm an Englishman and the thought of no music is a serious thing, yet i understand both sides of the argument.
I have taken my shahada internally but not in a mosque/masjid openly.
Im finding it very difficult to pray 5 times a day at the set times. Knowing which way to face depending on where i am.
But I've stopped eating pork easily, stopped drinking, but struggling with putting down the weed.

I feel like it's going to be a very slow process. But i enjoy when i pray in the morning and attempt to recite the Quran in Arabic.
Doing everything properly has been quite stressful i wont lie. It has only made me admire Muslim brothers and sisters more.

Subhana Allah I am 100% of the opinion that music is haram. As someone who used to be an addict to music, and listened to it day and night, there's one thing that I only did once a year because it was Ramadan, and that is listening and reading the Quran. The love of Quran and Music can never be together in your heart! It is either or, and now I listen to Quran daily, Alhamdolilah.
Moreover, the further you are from reading quran the easier it is to commit sin. May Allah (swt) make it easy on us and guide us through this life.

Brother Mohammed Ali needs to come out with a whole series about the fiqh of giving advice. I see our ummah needs to learn these etiquettes (including myself) to bring about more peace & respect to one another espeically when advising each other. Insha'Allah.

Stopping music helped me focus on memorizing Quran, doing good in study and work and family chores and visits helped me make time to memorize, only Quran stuck in my head, lowering my gaze away from the "gaze" on the street and just focusing on family and normality helped me focus on salat.

There's so much to learn from Akhi Muhammad Ali! His way of advising people, rectifying them and the way he interpret the evidences from the texts is subhanallah out of the world! Sahih Bukhari 5590

that he heard the Prophet (ﷺ) saying, "From among my followers there will be some people who will consider illegal sexual intercourse, the wearing of silk, the drinking of alcoholic drinks and the use of musical instruments, as lawful. And there will be some people who will stay near the side of a mountain and in the evening their shepherd will come to them with their sheep and ask them for something, but they will say to him, 'Return to us tomorrow.' Allah will destroy them during the night and will let the mountain fall on them, and He will transform the rest of them into monkeys and pigs and they will remain so till the Day of Resurrection."

إِنَّ الْحَلَالَ بَيِّنٌ، والْحَرَامَ بَيِّنٌ، وبَيْنَهُمَا مُشْتَبِهَاتٌ لَا يَعْلَمُهُنَّ كَثِيرٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ، فَمَنِ اتَّقَى الشُّبُهَاتِ فَقَدِ اسْتَبْرَأَ لِدِينِهِ، وعِرْضِهِ، ومَنْ وقَعَ فِي الشُّبُهَاتِ وقَعَ فِي الْحَرَامِ، كَالرَّاعِي يَرْعَى حَوْلَ الْحِمَى، يُوشِكُ أَنْ يَقَعَ فِيهِ، أَلَا وإِنَّ لِكُلِّ مَلِكٍ حِمًى، أَلَا وإِنَّ حِمَى اللَّهِ مَحَارِمُهُ، أَلَا وإِنَّ فِي الْجَسَدِ مُضْغَةً إِذَا صَلَحَتْ صَلَحَ الْجَسَدُ كُلُّهُ، وإِذَا فَسَدَتْ فَسَدَ الْجَسَدُ كُلُّهُ، أَلَا وهِيَ الْقَلْبُ
I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) saying, 'Both legal and illegal things are evident but in between them there are doubtful (suspicious) things and most of the people have no knowledge about them. So whoever saves himself from these suspicious things saves his religion and his honor. And whoever indulges in these suspicious things is like a shepherd who grazes (his animals) near the Hima (private pasture) of someone else and at any moment he is liable to get in it. (O people!) Beware! Every king has a Hima and the Hima of Allah on the earth is His illegal (forbidden) things. Beware! There is a piece of flesh in the body if it becomes good (reformed) the whole body becomes good but if it gets spoilt the whole body gets spoilt and that is the heart.
