FV4005 Restoration Project Part 2

The plan is to get this hull running, driving and tested before we fit the huge turret.

We will investigate the main engine’s smoking issue at a later date.

How cool must it be to have a spare Mark III Centurion chassis lying around. You guys truly live the dream.

You boys must be getting like an F1 team pulling those engines and gearboxes by now!

I believe there's a chap called Dietmar (I think his name is), who works at Bovington and would be worth contacting. He originates from what was once East Germany, and is an expert on Soviet-originated tanks that he served on when he was in the East German military. He might be of help with the T-34 engine (and overall) rebuild...

I had no idea about Mr Hewes until I donated to the appeal last week. Rest assured I have been catching up.

I had a runaway tractor engine today. Thanks to this channel I knew how to take a co2 extinguisher to stop it. Thanks guys.

Love how the tank museum has made you sound really posh AW Hewes and not a few nutcases on YouTube. Epic project, which I'm sure will generate lots of traffic your way

So, the Mk III was produced 1948-56, meaning that yours is at least 67 years old. Perhaps over 70 years old. And you've effectively just performed open heart surgery on the old girl. You and Jack never stop astounding me. I just hope that when you get at the cylinders that they're in better shape than those of the T34.
Being British, you'd expect them to be, but I guess only time will tell. 😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊

My old commander Chatty Taylor who has sadly departed, was a Tank museum legend. He would have been very excited about this project.
